They're not even thinking about UNI and the Valley here. It's all about the Big 10, and they made the call that Illinois is "Purdue" country instead of "Michigan State" country.
I'm not even sure how much of a choice WMBD has in this. It's quite possible they chose Purdue/Dook for the extra Scheyer factor for the Chicago area, and decided that was enough for the rest of the state too.
I am not a huge Illinois fan, but isn't this kind of a crapshoot?
I have no idea. They probably have numbers that tell them more viewers in Illinois would watch Purdue than Michigan St. And that Chicago area wants to see Scheyer.
I guess I'll be streaming the game I most want to watch. Last night our CBS switched from the KY-CU game to the better Xavier-KSU game 1/2 way through!
Also if you are not taking sides the Duke-Purdue game should be better to watch because it should be a more of an up and down the court game.

This will be one of the GOOD things that will happen when ESPN takes over the tourney. They will put these games on different channels, so viewers can pick which they want to watch.
I understand they don't want to start games during the day, so that is why they do the 2 game doubleheader at each site.
