Tessi Taylor Named Assistant AD for Compliance
PEORIA, Ill. - Tessi Taylor, who boasts five years experience in the area of NCAA compliance,
has been hired as Bradley University's first Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
"Tessi emerged as the leading candidate of our search committee from a very strong pool of candidates," said Bradley Director of Athletics Dr. Michael
Cross. "Her educational background, excellent professional training, breadth of experience and familiarity with the Missouri Valley Conference were all
helpful in the selection. Her passion for college athletics and Bradley is high and she has an exemplary work ethic. I look forward to working with Tessi
as part of our department's senior leadership team, because she will bring insightfulness that is crucial, not only in compliance, but in all areas of the
Bradley athletic department."
Taylor comes to Bradley from Interstate 74 rival Illinois State, where she served as Assistant Compliance Coordinator since July 2006. In her role with
the Redbirds, Taylor facilitated admission and NCAA Eligibility Center status for prospective student-athletes; monitored all recruiting activities, student-
athlete employment, playing and practice seasons and camps; assisted with NCAA rules interpretations, rules education and waiver processing; and
served as the primary athletic department liaison to the Financial Aid office when certifying outside and institutional awards.
"Bradley University is a very special place and I look forward to taking this next step in my professional career," said Taylor. "I was very impressed with
everyone on campus, including the new athletic director, Dr. Michael Cross. His vision for Bradley athletics impressed me immensely, and I'm excited
about being a part of his leadership team and helping him achieve his goals."
Prior to her position at Illinois State, Taylor was the administrative assistant for the Compliance Coordinator and Business Manager at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu from January 2005. Among her responsibilities at Hawaii Pacific, Taylor monitored all NCAA compliance forms, recruiting activities and playing and practice seasons.
Taylor earned her bachelor's degree in business management with a concentration in human resource management from Millikin University in 2001. She went on to earn her master's degree in kinesiology and recreation with an emphasis in sport management from Illinois State in 2004.
While pursuing her master's degree, Taylor worked as a graduate assistant for the Redbirds softball program, assisting the coaching staff with daily operations, during the 2003-04 season. She also worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation at Illinois State during the 2003 Spring and Fall semesters
(take that, Redbirds!)
