  • Sorry to bring this up again...JW

I haven't been able to spend much time on this site lately and all I've seen with respect to JW is a few thread titles and maybe a handful of posts about the topic.

Can someone break down the situation of what happened/what's going on with this whole thing so I don't have to go through every thread and post about it?

    Thanks.

John Wilkins was reported to have committed to Iowa State last week. However, some sources suggest he has not actually committed. He still holds an offer from Bradley, and plans to visit Indiana. That's the story.

The lack of any comment from John, his father Jeff, his junior college coach, or any other legitimate recruiting or
basketball reporting web site speaks for some significant uncertainty and doubt that this one source reporting it may be in error...
There are also numerous other reports behind the scenes also reporting there has been NO COMMITMENT, and many of our posters have seen and believe those reports

Ok thanks. Does this mean we are out of consideration....? Specifically, how realistic is it that he will come here? Even if the commitment is a hoax and it didn't happen does that change where he stands with us? I guess in general, truthfully, what is the probability he commits to bradley...2%, 5%, 20%, 80%?

As the old saying goes: Tune in Tomorrow.

Nobody really knows for certain what is going on unless your last name is Wilkins.

That doesn't make me over confident....do we have as good of a chance as the other 2 schools involved? Some are saying ISU has no chance now cause of something with his dad. 50/50 with Indiana would make feel better.

Indiana has no scholarships but they are still vigorously going after two different 6-9, raw, athletic forwards....and hoping to sign one soon
                (Yeguette, Abraham)
Crean just made a trip to Washington, DC to talk Abraham out of signing with Georgetown and lured him to visit Indiana, which he is doing today, and they are throwing the bank and the entire city at the kid trying to get him to commit to IU.
Seriously, their boards are following the kid like the media followed OJ Simpson's slow-speed chase...
"Today is the day that 6??™9???, 235-pound Progressive (Md.) Christian Academy power forward Moses Abraham is on campus making his official visit.
Abraham has been the focus of IU fans for the better part of two weeks, ever since it appeared the Hoosiers had a legitimate chance at out-dueling the likes of Georgetown, Maryland and Tennessee and luring the Nigerian native to campus. Credit for that goes to IU Coach Tom Crean, who traveled out East last week and pitched the Hoosier program to Abraham. Putting together the pieces of how this recruitment unfolded, it??™s pretty clear that Crean??™s trip likely kept Abraham from verballing to Georgetown, the program that appeared to be his likely destination..."

"A lot has changed since the Hoyas were in the lead, and it now appears that Indiana has replaced them as the clear leader for Abraham. It??™s conceivable that a commitment could be looming."

Bottom line - Indiana is only trailing John Wilkins along in case all their higher choices decline....so they want JW to remain open a few weeks to use him as a fall-back plan...

BUT John, you are the #1 target at BU so make up your mind now!!!!

Iowa State. But I also heard Illinois St. was recruiting him too from someone, which I didn't know that at first. So both I guess.

The rumor as I'm sure we have all read on here about Iowa State was that his dad got mad at them, so they are ruled out now. I was wondering if anyone knew if that is true.

I think both still are recruiting him, but I don't know that either are 100% eliminated.

I should start a new thread with this but will put it here:

Can I say that I am encouraged by the overwhelming support that most posters here have given John Wilkins through what he has gone through.....most BU fans have remained patient and hope for the best in this special recruit..unlike some other schools fans BU fans seem more knowledable about John and his talent...we all know a little about what he has gone through and I can't imagine how that has got to feel for the player...

John....can't speak for all here...but we know you would love being part of the BU family..and we hope the best for you...

I agree. I think john does know he is wanted by BU fans. He knows some of us were ready to drive to Burlington to watch him play. And he would probably get more immediate playing time here.
Bradley did all the work to try to get him eligible last fall. He knows he would be an important player here, not just a stopgap recruit who would be recruited over like Indiana does.
