This is big news in the world of sports in Peoria. The PJ Star knew that, and posted a story minutes after the news was public.
None of the Peoria TV stations either knew about it or refused to report it.
So why does the PJ Star post a report immediately, but hours later, the TV stations still ignore it and report other meaningless sports news?

Using your logic, if the Civic Center burned down, and the stations didn't report it, that would be OK, at least they didn't get the story wrong?

IMO, ignoring the biggest local sports story of the day is a terrible job of reporting by WEEK, WHOI, and WMBD.

Does this mean we will go get a center and close the door on JW....or do we actually have 2 left? JW and a 5...
      Enough left to get Siakam...

That's an outstanding finish and someone who could come in and start right away...

We currently have 12 scholarships committed for 2010-2011. So there is 1 more open, but that could still change before next fall.

So I will assume the coaches are done with JW...or they know someone is leaving.

Schools are allowed 13 scholarships, so 1 is still available.
Most have made it pretty apparent that the coaches are looking for a center....................so how do we shove JW and a center into 1 scholarship???????

So either we are getting JW. A center. Or someone is leaving and hopefully both....is this not correct?

When did we last have an off-season when someone DID NOT leave?

I don't know who we will get, because the coaches haven't told anyone. But I suspect if JW wants to commit, the scholarship will go to him. If not, they will continue to pursue other big men who might still be available.

For the record- the 10 pm sports reports on both WEEK and WHOI (same report) lead off their sports show with the story about Bradley receiving a commitment from Walter Lemon. All I am saying is that if it was a big enough story to lead off the 10 pm sports report, then why ignore it completely on the 5 pm and 6 pm shows. It wasn't as if it wasn't known then, I am sure those sports guy knew about it. It was widely reported since 10 am this morning.

There have been sports shows this past winter when Bradley was the 4th or 5th story they reported when Bradley played games at home. It is baffling why they don't seem to realize what are the sports stories that most people want to see. It almost has to be intentional the way they snub or ignore Bradley related stories, unless they are negative. I personally don't care, as I rarely watch them. I get my news from internet sources, and I suspect an increasing number of people do as well.
Then they wonder why their viewership is declining.

Let's not go here right now. JL usually plays these hands very quietly and tight. Speculating on someone leaving will not help the program in any way unless there is a log jam of better talent that can coming in. I'm not against players leaving or players getting the boot, if they do not work for it. I am against a player being forced to leave that does everything they are asked for on and off the court but somehow just is not materializing as the coaches thought on the floor.

One advantage this commit also may give Bradley- Julian has 2 other potential D1 players who will be among the top players in Illinois for 2011, 6'4" wing player Phillip Greene (who visited a BU game recently) and 6'8" power forward Jamari Traylor. You could be hearing a lot about these 2 studs this next year.
This doesn't do us much good, since we already have two scholarships committed for 2011. If they don't have a place at BU, no sense in talking to his teammates. What we need...and I would say immediately...is an actual center. Even if he's 6'9" and 250, we'll take him. The team is in dire need of strength on the front line, not more guys to run around the perimeter.

all Chicago kids seem to attend more than one HS...it sure doesn't seem to be an issue when talking about most other Chicago kids..

The Chicago Public School system has an Open Enrollment policy. It means that since not all courses and curriculum are taught at all the schools, any student can transfer to any of the Chicago public schools, and it's done all the time for academic reasons. But it's also done for athletics, which is not an allowable reason, but sometimes it's hard to distunguish what a kid's reasons are. It looks like Lemon wanted to play for Jackson. He was not the only student to transfer from Fenger HS to Julian HS when Jackson made that move last summer.
