I would take Luke Dobrich in an assistant's role in a heartbeat, but not in the top assistant/associate head coach role. He would be coming in with qualifications to be a 2nd or 3rd assistant, not a top assistant/associate head coach.
    Onward and Upward!

does he have some ties that would help us in recruiting...
just because he went to DePue HS hardly blows me away....the enrollment of DePue is 70, and Niagara doesn't appear to recruit east of Philly...

Jerry Wainwright? Him and JL have a connection. Has Chicago ties, D1 head coaching experience.

You can forget about JW and TL or any other head coach that was fired this year. They are not giving up their buyouts to come to BU even though it is such a glamerous job-not many schools have 7-9000 coaches in the stands that already know more then the head coach. (why do we even need an asst?)
I am sure the BU asst coaches job will bring in some very qualified candidates and many that we will have never heard of which will tick off many on this board as they think they know more then the people doing the hiring. How many of us had ever heard about AB before he came to BU and yet he is the 1 person I hardly ever hear anyone ripping on.

Yup...he's the only one I can think of that made the jump at all...but he didn't jump to an assistant spot...
..and that happened way more than a decade ago.....and he jumped to Wisc.-Milwaukee from a D-III program that was a perennial contender for national titles.

Thus, even if someone nominates Vershaw for an asst. spot, I think it just isn't likely to happen...

Since he's been on staff there, I know the Purple Eagles have had several Chicago-area players.

Note, there is a difference between having ties and actively recruiting as well. Just because you don't actively bring in players from a particular reason does not mean you aren't developing and establishing relationships.

And Mihalich views him as indispensable, but understands Dobrich's desires to get back to his native region as well.

I think having a voice in Philly and NY is a big plus as well.

Not sure Jerry would be the answer. How did the last head coach work out for us? I would like to see someone with experience in recruiting Chi. HS's. Maybe Willie Scott or DV. Thats a stretch but would like to see it happen.

I believe that it will be someone that we won't think of either. So I really have no idea. Just gonna be patient and see who it is.

Wainwright would never take a job under someone he has so much more experience than, even if that particular coach beat his brains in every time they played. The players and media would certainly love Jerry though, he's a very personable, entertaining guy.
