  • Division I basketball revenues

CNN has an article listing all the Division I schools and how much revenue their men's basketball programs draw in and spend. They admit that some of the data may be flawed because the schools can shift money from basketball to other programs to try to balance budgets. I am not sure where this data comes from, but I actually think these numbers are probably more inaccurate than they concede, because I know at Bradley, millions of dollars of donations to the athletic department, such as Braves Scholarship Society and Braves Club donations are not designated specifically to the basketball program.

Here is how the 10 MVC teams rank in revenues-
    1. CU 4,825,616
    2. WSU 4,139,169
    3. MSU 3,745,378
    4. BU 2,994,774
    5. DU 2,044,433
    6. UE 1,978,179
    7. UNI 1,901,814
    8. SIU 1,805,378
    9. ILSU 1,525,638
    10. INSU 713,768

Whenever lists like these come out, despite myself, I'm still surprised by what schools make what cash. Never figured out why Kentucky seems to make so little on their program compared to other big name schools.

I realize according to the discalimer that some of these figures may be a little skewed for schools that have football etc...but Holy Cow...we have NO football expenses, and it concerns me to see that our expenses are 3rd highest of ANY team in the Valley (only CU spends more, and WSU a little more) --(and our expenses are double that of UNI) and yet we have not finished higher that 4th in the league since Les has been here, and not in ANY post season this year...not a very good return for having expenses of nearly 3 mil. IMO Time for some changes boys & girls

I wonder what Butler does with their profit of 2 dollars
This is just the tip of the iceberg...

Just curious what goes into revenue gains. Like for instance does it help, hurt, or not matter that Bradley can serve alcohol? Im not looking for a fight just asking what all is considered revenue because of basketball?

I don't think the Civic Center serving alcohol has anything to do with Bradley's revenue

Maybe not...but it has a LOT to do with my (lack of) revenues
