  • Freshman Illinois State guard leaves Redbirds

Freshman guard Terry Johnson, has decided to leave Illinois State and transfer.

And in another bit of bad news for Tim Jankovich- talented 6'8 power forward/center Phillip Jackson of Chicago Hyde Park HS, rated by most high school talent evaluators as a top 10 player in Illinois for the high school class of 2010, decided to commit to the University of Nevada. Jackson did not play HS basketball this season after transferring and being ruled ineligible. I have been told by a couple ISU insiders he was a "lock" to commit to ISU, once Coach Jankovich cleared up a couple more scholarships.-

ChicagoHoops.com has him ranked #11 for the class of 2011-

You mean.....the Fab Five is no more?
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

      Not surprising...for several reasons...
Jank needs more scholarships, as he now has the open time on his schedule to go out and recruit...plus he has promised rides to more kids than he had scholarships available - how else do you think he got all those guys to "walk on" last year???
........so we knew a couple kids would get their rides janked..

Terrence Johnson transferred high schools so he could get off a losing team and go to North Lawndale, a team that was likely to get to state whether it had him or not..he knows when to bail....
Then he was an incredible gunner and not a point guard, and obviously wanted to shoot but a college system requires team play.
Plus I suspect he's been told that the guards already on the team plus the one coming in are going to be playing ahead of him...

      btw.....he was a 24% shooter overall and an 8.3% 3-pt shooter

a Top 50 kid is sent packing from USC - he's from Louisiana - maybe Eddren can give the guy a call.
