Kirk Wessler....Rice says, why not Drake?

I've seen Rice play, and I am not sure he will have the success at the college level that Tate and some others predict. He is a great HS player, but he is undersized for a forward- 6'3". His game is a little like Marcus Jordan's who helped Young win the state title last year in 4A. I think he'll do OK in the MVC, and it may take a year or 2 to adjust to the college game. What do others who have seen him play think?

Rice is kind of a guy without a position in college...which is almost certainly why the bigger schools have passed on him....
Actually, he's a lot like Richwoods' Tony Frazier...
He's extremely athletic and could become another Leonard Houston for Drake...
he sure isn't going to dominate as a forward - being 6-3, he isn't a ball handler, gets only about 1 assist per game, and hits only about 30% from the shorter high school 3-pt line.
I guess time will tell......

I don't see much enticing about Drake - at least basketball-wise.
They have a chance to be in the middle of the Valley pack in a couple years when their young guys have developed and gone through the hard times.
But their fans are fair-weathered it seems and Coach Phelps doesn't seem to be liked much from what I've heard, and lacks personality on the sidelines.
Maybe it's not a reflection of what he's like in person, and he seemed to get the most from his players last year and did a nice job coaching.
Drake seems to be the least appealing of all Valley schools IMO.

I don't get it. How are a bunch of BU fans gonna sit around and knock Drake?
They have had success more recently than us. They are comparable academically, are in a similar size town in the midwest, and possess the family atmosphere that many at BU love. Yes BU has some positives over Drake (Bigger arena), and some could argue Drake has some over BU (On-campus arena). But look at the school's history since these kids were born (say, 1992) and it's not like BU has been a powerhouse...

CU, SIU, BU, and WSU are the only schools I dub interesting.
