WOW talk about refs blowing one for the little guys. First a lane violation that is never called then they don't even review the last play to put more time on the clock. CBS never showed a replay, but I thought there should have been about 0.9 seconds left a big difference from the 0.3 they left.

Yeah. Amazing how some of these calls just get swept under the rug like that! It may not have made a huge difference as MSU had the basket well defended, but another example pretty similar to the Robert Morris/Villanova game yesterday.Originally posted by DeltaBrave03 View Post
Which leads me to one observation. Do the NCAA powers that be really believe that having nothing but big names playing in the later rounds really increases the ratings that much? I know some say that when George Mason made their run to the Final Four four years ago, combined with five or six non-BCS teams in the Sweet 16 actually hurt their ratings. But I don't really believe that. Of course Kentucky/Kansas or Duke/Kansas will produce huge ratings, but so would say Butler/Kentucky or even Butler/New Mexico since these are teams that don't always have much of a chance to win the championship.
But I guess the bigger motive here is how much more money each of the BCS conferences can steal from the little guys! That's what really drives this tournament! -
Ya I definitely agree with the seconds left thing, and the announcers never even said anything either! The lane violation was barely a lane violation if it even was one, that shouldn't be called in that spot. During the Maryland - Houston game the guy doing color did say something about the lane violation but the play by play tries to say that it was a violation but very close.
BTW...I bet Tornado loved the the Md - Houston game with two of his favorite coaches.

When the lane violation happened...the play-by-play guys actually didn't spot the called infraction. They kept thinking the ref called the wrong number and kept thinking it was the guy across the lane. However, what the ref called was the man down low started to lose his balance and caught himself by stepping maybe a half inch across the "bar" that separates the two players. While it was definitely a lane violation, it was marginal and it should not have been allowed to play such a large part.Walk on, Walk on

Ref? This game was not even close and the refs never had to pull out the BCS card for that one! The real difference between Md and Houston was that young big for Md.Originally posted by tornado View Post
