UTEP gets reamed, then Butler gets jabbed by having to play the toughest #12 seed in history - of course both are mid-majors
Well, Butler up 49-37 at last check with under 12 to go as Butler was on a 22-4 run. So either UTEP wasn't nearly the challange people thought they would be, or Butler is really good! Good to see Butler playing well, and maybe they can go pretty far.

I believe Butler is a Final 4 quality team! I love the way they rebound as a team. One guy boxes out while another guy goes for the ball. They really look like a well oiled machine and will be a formidable out. They rarely waste a possession and in the NCAA protecting the ball is one of the best stats to see how well a team has done. Teams with a low turnover rate usually do well.

3-point barrage early in the 2nd half. They have tied the record for most 3's in a first round game...

I agree. They are were one of the most impressive looking teams of the day so far. Let's see how far they can go.

I filled out four other brackets on ESPN, and as a lark, in one of them I had Butler winning the national championship! Not like it's without precedent that a 5 seed can win the whole thing. So we'll see how things play out.

Now hoping UNI can pull out a win over a great UNLV team!

The seeding of both these teams is a travesty! How did ND get a higher seed then these two? I'm a Maryland fan and I do not see how they got a better seed then UNI much less better then Butler. I really hope that the top mid-major teams wipe up their competition.

FYI - B4L, I did pick UNI to beat Kansas.

Don't look now, but #14 Ohio is manhandling "#3" Georgetown (quotes intended ) 63-46 halfway through the second half! Why I picked Georgetown, I'm not sure considering they always seem to choke during the first round of tournaments. But I did not think Ohio was that good considering they finished ninth in the MAC this year. That 14 seed is actually pretty generous for them, but apparently, so was the 3 seed for Georgetown!

UNI starting to pull away a bit. Up 58-49 with under 7 to go. UNI on an 11-1 run right now.

Ohio up on Georgetown 95-83 with 30 seconds left.

And the slaughter of the BCS teams continues!

The Big East. How about the Big Least. Notre Dame, loss. Georgetown, loss. Marquette, loss. Villanova, lucky win. I'd look for Pittsburgh to lose to Oakland. So far it's high seed teams 6 and low seeded teams 6. This could end up being a March Madness to remember.

I didn't pick 'em but I hope SDSU beats UT as well.

I believe a couple of valley refs are doing the Tennessee SDSU game and showing why they do a lot of valley games!! yikes!!!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

It's been quite the day so far. Even Montana gave New Mexico a good first half, but NM is beginning to pull away now. Still looking to see if SDSU can pull things out.

I have SDSU in the Sweet 16, but it looks like it may take a 3 by them to send it into OT. Tennessee up 61-59, 7.4 secs to go, and one more FT coming for them.
