I would disagree. Where did these "major" connections come from?
If he had any significant connections in Chicago, then why isn't DePaul getting any players from Chicago? It's been years since they have landed anyone from Chicago, and they aren't even mentioned with any Chicago players this year, either.

David Booth has no connection to Bradley either. He has spent most of the past 10 years playing in Europe and scouting for the NBA Memphis Grizzlies in the Southeastern part of the US.
He has never coached or recruited until being named to the DePaul staff last summer, so whatever connections he might have in Chicago would be minimal and probably of little value for recruiting to Bradley.
If Bradley feels they need someone with Chicago prep connections, there are hundreds of better candidates.
IMO, there is no chance that David Booth would be considered for a position at Bradley, and probably just as little chance that he would consider it if it was offered.

I am not going to name names, but just think of people who are in the coaching profession that do have some past connections to Bradley or Jim Les (or Dick Versace).

Lenox decides he is leaving his head coaching gig to come back to BU.

While I don't think that David Booth would be coming to BU, I do think that he could bring some of the skill coaching we may be missing.

I agree that a new assistant will be someone who had definite ties to Chicago, experience coaching, and someone that is familiar with BU and JL.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

And what if I don't want anyone with an association to Coach Les...

Isn't that part of the problem with whats at the top now?!

Almost all coaches get to select their own assistants. I would rather have someone who the coach knows and trusts. We have seen in the past that assistants who weren't picked by the coach didn't stay long.

Who exactly is picking our next assistant(s). I'm guessing if JL doesn't have a say in the matter, then whoever does the picking will also realign the current/new staff with their job titles and responsibilities?
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Based on this criteria, names like Rick Malnati, Donald Reese, Mitchell Anderson come to mind.

I have no insight and am wayyyy out of the loop, just guessing

One name that has not mentioned that I think JL should at least talk to is the head coach of a DIII school to the North...Monmouth College head coach Mark Vershaw. I think he would be a great addition. He is from East Peoria, played (successfully) for Wisconsin as a post, he went to the Final Four as a player, and my 6'9 buddy who played at ICC and Sac State said he is the best post coach he has ever had. I have heard he really likes being a head coach so he may not be interested, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If the Braves offered up an associate head coach spot it may be enough to sway him. You would have someone who knows what it takes to win, is local, has a good pedigree, and is essentially exactly what we are missing: SOMEONE WHO CAN TAKE OUR POSTS TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!!

I am content with someone taking our posts to the MVC level.

I think we are like 4 levels away from MVC level.
