I know what you're saying and I have absolutely no problem with JC being on the staff and would hate to see him go elsewhere. At the same time, I would hope everyone else on the staff "knows JL's system and what he wants" as well. I was just wondering why it seemed to me like it was the inexperience of the staff that was bothering people, but the most inexperienced "coach" is the one that's most welcome to stay. I didn't know if it was simply because he used to play for Bradley?
If it can't be explained, just blame it on tornado and tornado-hate.

I think it's because he's in a role that's usually occupied by the least experienced person on a given staff, especially at a school the level of BU's. From what I have heard, JC contributed a lot more than your typical basketball ops guy would be expected to.

I don't know anything about what the assistant coaches do and how they are doing their jobs, I don't live close enough to the program or know anyone close enough to know this stuff.
JC is my favorite Brave since I have been alive, closely followed by Anthony Parker, and for me personally that is why I wish for him to be on the staff along with hearing that he has done a good job. So yes not a real reason to want someone on staff, but if I had heard he wasn't doing much I would think otherwise, but from observing JC from a distance I think he has the skills and qualities to do a good job.
So I don't know what we should do with the staff, so I don't pretend to think I know what is best. I do think an experienced guy wouldn't be a bad thing, but I trust JL knows what is best for him and the team. And if JL thinks we need an experienced guy, I don't necessarily think it should be the least experienced guy out first, but maybe the one if any that contributes the least. Also they all probably know what JL wants, but JC has had a chance to be on the court with it, which probably adds a different perspective, but I really don't know I'm just speculating.
JL - The Head Coach
Eric Buescher - Right hand man
Alvin Brooks III - Focuses mainly on recruiting?
Kyle Vogt - Additional assistant....focuses on guards..with Les?
JC - Edits game tapes...organizes everything to get team going?
Who is helping the bigs now that Merf is gone? Just Alvin?
Initially (After Merf), it was said Eric was moved from being the guards coach to the bigs coach with JL as the guards coach. Not sure about the long-term solution, though

I wonder if JC helps with recruiting? I mean wouldn't it seem cool if a former player who is still a young guy you can relate to came with the head coach on a visit....he could give the recruit details from first hand experience of playing at Bradley!

Nice post.....I happen to agree.

Right......he did say he would be coaching somewhere next season.

That made me laugh as well. I have heard the obvious rumor, but the other person I was thinking of is an excellent x's and o's coach whose family is very close to a person who has some influence with the BU program. I didn't think that this person was ready to be an assistant and glad that he was not part of a rumor.

So far I haven't heard any name that I'm excited about here....
Personally I hope it's not a local coach. We do fine recruiting locally not that there isn't more to the job but that's half the attraction of a local coach.
I've said since Merf's been gone I think this is a very tough situation JL has put himself in with EB as associate head coach. Whoever you bring in will be behind him and we need someone with college exprience and someone that JL will listen to.....and who's willing to come in with a head coach who's seat is at least warm anyway...

I have to disagree with your post for a couple of reasons. If the person is a good x's and o's coach, I'll take him. I have stated previously that I would like for us to hire 2 assistant coaches. I personally would put the x's and o's coach as the top assistant and reassign job tasks to the other assistants.
