BTW -- useless trivia now, but how many people recall that Bobby Lutz had Michael Beasley committed to Charlotte at one point...
and only a weird sequence of events - Huggins to K-State, then Huggins paying Beasley's AAU coach $400,000 to quit at Charlotte and come to K-State and bring Beas with him...has now cost Lutz his job..........

I also just found out that Donivine may have had an offer from Iowa...and so maybe some of the news this weekend has influenced him..
anyway...I have heard several Iowa fans say they DO NOT want another mid-major hire, so the name of Jacobson causes some cringing...

Oh and they would be lucky to get Ben!

not just Ben, but quite possibly Cully Payne & Matt Gatens could become available...

I heard 3 Iowa starters(Payne & Gatens?), went to the AD and said they were leaving if Lickliter isn't canned. Look for Iowa to sniff around Gregg Marshall, Brad Brownell from Wright State, maybe even Gregory at Dayton.

            How about a couple bigs?!

Sick of talking about guards, ESP considering we just grabbed one of the last I wanted to add to DSE and Jake who are solid.

I read that Payne said he came there to play for Lickliter and that he was behind him 100%. Regardless, Todd is out of a job.

hard to refute what might be said but this makes so little sense that it has to be untrue...

what's the single thing or two a kid wants most...to play at a high level and to play a lot of minutes...right??
Payne (a freshman) and Gatens (a soph) chose Iowa and are not only playing in the Big Ten but are playing a TON!!
Gatens averages 37 minutes per game...one of the highest minutes played per game in the nation...

so if they are getting exactly what they bargained for under Lick, then it would be insane to ask to bring in a new coach...knowing full well, that any new coach may want to go get his own players and would recruit over them..
After all - isn't that precisely what Lickliter did...ran off a bunch of talented kids and brought those mid-major-caliber guys in......

anyone else think that ISU's Tim Jankovich has played himself out of any serious contention for a job like this one or any other BCS level head coaching spot...?
...given he had a strong, senior-ladened squad, and a cushy schedule and still couldn't beat his way out of a paper bag...and they end up with a low seed in the NIT...

Let's see how ISU does in the NIT. If they get lucky and hot and win a few he might be back in the running for a better job. (And what job isn't better than being at ISU? ) JK (NOT)

He has finished in the top 3 of the MVC every year he's been there, and ahead of us...but I guess that's not saying much.

I hate to hear these kinds of things. I hope the AD didn't make a decision based on what the players wanted. That is a bad precedent to set, if he did.
And the players may get more than they wished for, since most new coaches are more than happy to see the old players leave and vacate the scholarships so the new coach can recruit more of his own players.

Interesting that Iowa cans Lickliter the day after ex-coach Steve Alford and New Mexico are named to the NCAA tournament as a 3 seed. Being from Iowa, I know how bad the blood between Alford and Iowa was and I'm sure it stung to see him doing so well while Lickliter, his replacement, just flat out stunk.

I have to disagree here...as said, he has finished in the Top 3 every year so far and went to a major postseason tournament as well...

More than that, he IS getting good recruits to come to Normal...Imagine what he could do if given the resources at a BCS...

I'd obviously expect Jacobsen to be ahead of him in the running for that job, but it wouldn't surprise me if they sniffed around in his direction....Parnam would be a great complimentary piece as an assistant in that area for players...

Plus, imagine the double benefits...no more Jank at ISU and less players fall to UNI as a result...

I call that a win win for BU.

Just remember though who has the BCS pedigree and Bill Self endorsement. Jank to Big-12 ISU maybe?

This could be really good for Bradley on the recruiting front
