Eight non-BCS at-large teams this year, the most since 2006. And we all recall who got four bids that year!

Rhode Island wins the yearly award for the lowest RPI (#40) not to get in.

Got to say it will be a really interesting tournament this year.

How is it a coincidence, don't they set up the brackets themselves??

Definitely! The selection committee did a nice job picking the right teams this year. The seeding though was all over the place! Not good considering they may have to seed as many as 96 teams in the near future!

                    YES.

First off, there's more mid majors than you think.

Second off, let me tell you, from someone who puts brackets together: When you get to the 6-11 and 7-10 games, you put teams where they fit. Often times, there's only one slot. Sometimes it has to go MWC vs. MVC because the ACC team on that seed line can't go in that spot because Duke is already in the region, or the Big East team has that problem, etc.

In fact, it's impossible to rig the bracket in any way shape or form.

                      Not against us.

UIUC can't host in Champaign (their arena is being used for something else) this week. Instead of sending them on the road, maybe a neutral site close to home.

I say they play in Peoria at Carver.

UNI and the Valley get screwed on their seed, they won the conf and the tour. and yet they get a bad seed.

That's not a fact. It's actually dead wrong. Do you work for the state-run media?

Either there or in Chicago, I don't where else they would play with enough capacity.

Forgive me for continuing down this road, but:

Ok, UNLV/UNI. You don't want to see mid major vs. mid major. Ok. Send UNI somewhere else on the 9 line. Just swap with another 9 seed.

Oh wait, Wake can't swap. Maryland blocks that.

Oh wait, Louisville can't swap. They played UNLV.

Oh wait, FSU can't swap. Maryland blocks that.

Ok, let's switch out UNLV with another 8 seed.

Oh wait, Texas can't swap. Kansas blocks that.

Oh, Gonzaga fits! But UNLV can't occupy Gonzaga's spot because of BYU and the "top 3" bracketing rule.

Oh, California fits! But UNLV can't occupy Cal's spot because of Louisville's presence.

So, therefore, UNLV/UNI. That's locked in. The only other way you avoid it is if you change actual seeds. And you don't change seeds just to separate mid-majors.

                              Case closed.

I can do the same with every other such matchup if you want.

Are there any teams from Illinois in the NCAA tourney? If not, how often does that happen?
