Which tournament should the ladies choose WNIT OR WBI
I voted for WBI... which I think is the best they can hope for. But the question is what they should choose. Heck - they should CHOOSE the WNIT. So I answered wrong.
Anyone think that they would host either of these tournaments?
No (at least for an opening round), because they don't own their facility and would likely have to pay ICC or 150 to use one of their gyms, and there would not be enough income.
And as Mob points out, they won't be seeded very high, although I don't honestly know how big a role seeding will even play in this event.
All that said, if Bradley were to manage to win a game or two, they might have an opportunity to host and I think there would be enough buzz to come up with some solution.
If the new arena was available, I think Bradley fans would support it in good numbers.
They should choose the NIT, but they'll make the WBI.
I don't think this is true. From what I hear, the WNIT is too unwieldy given its size (64 teams). They are not organized at all by the NIT, it is run by a company called Triple Crown Sports. The quality of this field will not be as good as the WBI I don't believe. The WNIT also charges road teams just to participate.
The WBI, since it is just 16 teams may be more appealing to teams and can therefore likely be a bit more selective with teams. Therefore it might also be significantly more profitable for its participants.
Bradley has a great working relationship with SportsTours, the group that operates the WBI, and it is a mutually beneficial relationship.
Also, it is important to develop such a relationship for when Bradley will be better suited to host these types of events when the new arena is complete. You are more likely to be thrown a bone in the future. And if people can get behind Bradley Volleyball and Women's Basketball and turn them into profitable enterprises when the new facility opens, these opportunities can be plentiful!
