R.L. Horton of Southern Miss hit a 70 footer at the halftime buzzer against Houston this evening in the CUSA semis, but alas, they lost the game 74-66.
Been a fun tourney even though Tulsa lost today. #7 seed Houston came into the tourney with a losing record against D-1 teams, and will play UTEP in the finals tomorrow morning. They were helped out yesterday by a Memphis dunk that went 2/3 of the way through the net, hit the Memphis player in the face, and popped back out of the net...those lost 2 points were huge as Houston won by 1. UTEP's only league loss was to Houston, so tomorrow's game could be more interesting than it appears, especially if Houston is hot from outside. UTEP passes my "eye test" and would dominate all MVC teams except possibly UNI...they are a team that has improved markedly as the season has progressed, and last lost 2 months ago. They also have no seniors.
