Evan Turner Big Ten Player of the Year

Everyone knows that Evan Turner is a great player and is the Big Ten Player of the Year..
but he's also the top contender for National Player of the Year...

so this thread is about the intrigue and mystery that surrounds the voting in the Big Ten for Player of the Year.

First....flash back a year and recall, that many (including Evan Turner himself) though he was the best player last year and should have been named Big Ten POY, but he was edged out by Michigan State's Kalin Lucas.

However, this season, Turner's performances and stats speak for themselves, and it is hard to believe that anyone could dispute who had the best season and who is the best player in the Big Ten, right?

So the voting should have been unanimous, right? But it wasn't

There were actually two different votes for the Big Ten POY, the media vote and the coaches' vote...
Turner was the unanimous winner in the media vote...
but he got only 10 of 11 votes in the coaches voting.
Kalin Lucas got the other vote...and yet everyone is being tight lipped about who cast the only opposing vote that kept Turner from getting the award unanimously --

The suspicion has fallen on Michigan State's Tom Izzo...but who knows? - some think it was Tom Crean

When asked about why anyone wouldn't choose Turner as POY, Izzo had this response....
"Michigan State's Tom Izzo made a point about Turner's gaudy stats
"He gets stats and deserves some of them, but when you're playing 40 minutes a game and you've got the ball in your hands 98 percent of the time ..."

Can you vote for your own player in these polls? Thad Matta may have had to vote for someone else... or he may have chosen to on his own if not...

yes, the story says that you could vote for your own player...
