In the Big 12 tournament, the top 4 teams get a 1st round bye (Kansas, Baylor, Kansas St., Texas A&M), and the lower 8 teams playoff to get to round 2.

Missouri (5th seed) is about to lay an egg. They are losing big to last place Nebraska (12th seed).
Missouri had been considered a pretty certain NCAA tournament team, but might this loss hurt their NCAA tournament chances?-

If they were a midmajor with their record, they would probably be out. But my guess is they will still pass enough committee members' "eye tests" .

Mizzou's RPI will drop to around 50, they have the 11th best (and 2nd WORST SOS in the conference) and 10 losses...plus a first round bump from their tourney..plus lost 3 of their last 4...

I don't deny they'll get in, but I am not convinced they have a resume much better than Wichita State (RPI 45), who won't get in

Excellent post! I don't deny the selection committee realizes that too. But Missouri's top 50 wins give them the advantage over Wichita St., so unfortunately WSU loses the battle with this team.

There will be other teams though that have absolutely no business getting in ahead of WSU. Anyone from the Pac-10, Ole Miss and Mississippi St., and even Illinois despite their strong top 50 record. What have the Illini done lately?

Oh I forgot. The committee does not take into consideration the last 10 or 12 games anymore, as if it mattered before!

With the loss, Mizzoo has dropped to 44. Wichita St sits right behind them at 45.

Ignore the talking heads. They ignore WSU because they can't improve their position while virtually every other bubble team can.

They're on the board in the committee, and that's all that matters. Now, getting in is another matter, of course.

Missouri lost 6 games in the #1 conference in the country. WSU lost 6 games in the MVC. That's just one reason Missouri is far ahead of WSU in the pecking order.
