They finished 7th and were a play in team, no way are they an NIT team.

Their overall record definitely screams NIT. However you are right in that the conference standing is the overriding factor in who gets chosen for the NIT. And I find it highly doubtful that the NIT will skip over three teams to choose MSU over the rest (especially with two other teams from our conference already NIT locks), even though their overall record is very respectible.

But there's always a slim chance, and until the NIT pairings come out there's nothing wrong with MSU hoping they might get invited.

I will eat my hat if someone beyond WSU and ISU get invited to the NIT from the MVC.

On ESPN about a week ago Joe Lunardi was asked if the field was 96 this year, who would the last 4 teams in be, to evidence how bad it would make the tourny, and he had Missouri St. as one of them after they lost in Arch Madness already. So being in the 96 team field would put you in the NIT based on Lunardi.

Now he probably didn't put much effort in to that because he is concentrating on the real bracket, and he probably just saw they had 20 wins. I think there is no way they should make the NIT having finished 7th in conference.

Just a hypothetical question here (and the key word is hypothetical).

What would happen if Bradley was invited to the NIT with a 16-15? And would they accept the bid?

Probably not, we are above that now. NCAA or bust for this program.

Lol no joking, I'm sure we would, but I doubt it will happen. It was hypothetical though. I don't see any reason even with our record why you would turn down an NIT birth and a chance for national exposure.

And it would be an "improvement" over the previous two years despite a drop in overall record.

I wonder if Les and his staff will even be keeping an eye on the NIT selections this Sunday. I would bet they would be as shocked as I would be if they got an NIT invite!

3 NIT bids just went away tonight, so whatever fledgling hopes MSU had of that are gone. In fact, ISU might have to start worrying.

I can't even believe the word Bradley and NIT are being mentioned in the same sentence by some. Heck, MSU doesn't belong in the NIT either. Only ISU and WSU do IMO.

The NIT contacts lots of schools, including some with RPIs over 100, just to know what schools would be interested and which ones aren't, and which ones have available arenas.
