Curiously, John Wall is a freshman, and is only the second freshman ever to be named SEC Player of the Year- however, he was not the SEC Freshman of the Year.
Teammate Demarcus Cousins was named the SEC Freshman of the Year.
How can a player who is a freshman get POY and not FOY?
I'm guessing because POY is treated as an MVP-like award by the voters, while FOY is treated as a best-player like award. And I suppose you can argue Cousins is the better player but Wall is the more valuable one.
Now, the question of how the awards should be interpreted is another thing.
The MAC Freshman of the Year is DJ Cooper who Bradley came close to landing...
one thing that kept us from getting him is that he viewed the two PG's we had as less opportunity to play and start than he'd get at Ohio..
