  • Big East tournament- DePaul loses

    At halftime-
    DePaul 15
    South Florida 30

3 other first round Big East tournament games today-

There are rumors that if DePaul is eliminated today, they are prepared to name their new coach possibly as early as this PM or tomorrow.
Chirs Lowery is rumored to be a strong possibility.

And among the most classless fan comments I have seen in a while...there's a whole thread on the Saluki board rooting for South Florida to win so they can unload Chris Lowery as soon as possible...

if Lowery goes to DePaul, SIU is rumored to be set to hire Southern Indiana's Rodney Watson...

And the dominoes have started falling (if this indeed takes place).

Amazing! How do these people know the next coach is going to be any better or worse?! How quickly these "fans" forget!

Do these people not realize that as soon as DePaul announces Lowery (which I have been told is a certainty), they will lose both Dillard and Bocot, and possibly even Teague?

DePaul University would like to announce the hiring of Chris Lowery as its new men's head basketball coach...

                Final score-
                DePaul 49
                So. Florida 58

South Florida did not shoot well (44%) , and was 0-8 from three. But DePaul was even worse, they shot under 30% for the game, and 24% from three. Both teams were well under 50% from the free throw line!
DePaul's Will Walker had 20 points, but was just 8-24 from the floor.

USF is another haven for disgruntled transfers...but it seems it has worked out better than usual for them...
Gilchrist, Crater, Anderson, Mercer are all transfers from other high level programs...and one other (Jarrid Famous) was a Louisville commit until the last minute then switched...

That's the 1st step of the 3 step program USF needs for an at-large bid....

Rodney Watson was at SIU for 21 years until he left last year to take the Southern Indiana head coaching job. If there is one guy that could keep some of the young talent in Carbondale, I think it would be him.

Lowery may be somewhere else next year, but from what I'm hearing is he's not even in the Top 3 for DePaul right now. . .so if Saluki fans are assuming that's a done deal, they may be sorely disappointed.

Right now the top 4 I'm hearing (in no particular order) are Lavin, Barbee, Webster, or one of the top area HS coaches.
