  • Sam Maniscalco makes All-Tounament team

Sam Maniscalco was named to the MVC All-Tournament team.

He was the only player on the team who was not playing for UNI or Wichita State.
Kwadzo Ahelegbe of Northern Iowa was the Most Outstanding Player.
Also named to the all-tourney team were Jordan Eglseder of UNI, and Clevin Hannah and Garrett Stutz of Wichita State.

Glad to see Sammy getting recognition for his outstanding work. I am looking forward to see just how good and motivated he is going to be his last year. I think the rest of the Valley better watch out.

Congrats to Sammy - and here are a few other stats....

UNI is a good team but they are NOT a team full of great individual players, although I guess the people who vote can select who they want...

--Ahelegbe had 24 points today, but in the previous two games he was just 4-14, and 1-3 from 3-pt, and scored only 7 and 5 points....so it is clear that the people who vote on these awards seem to see only one game and forget the rest. He had only one assist vs. Bradley as well!

--Farokhmanesh was just 6-28 in the 3-games of the tourney, and only 3-18 from 3-pt...
he did not make the All-Tourney team...

--Eglseder didn't have a single game of more than 10 pts, and only averaged 5 rebs per game...(Dinma had 19 rebs in just 2 games)
I guess the people who vote can pick who they want...but obviously they award those on the winning teams

--Adam Koch was scoreless today...and averaged only 5.6 points per game for the tourney...

--Toure Murry had a total of 36 points, 15 rebs and 7 assists in the 3 games of the tourney, so he also was deserving of honors.....

Great job, Sam! Play vs. Creighton was inspired and you turned in a very good performance against UNI too.

                Congrats Sammy! Never any doubt.

How many can that arena seat?

The most people to ever attend an event at the Scottrade Center was 22,612, which happened twice during the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, known as Arch Madness.

Congrats Sammy! Love the passion and all out hustle.

FYI, T - Sometimes the stat line does not tell the whole story. How do stats explain the great D and hustle UNI players played? This is an SM thread not a the other guys do not deserve their props.

Ahelegbe was the obvious MVP choice to me...I couldn't come up with anyone else who was even close, and I saw all 9 games. When they announced the all-tourney team, there was not much suspense waiting for the MVP.
