    My 2010-2011 BU SLOGIN

    My slogin for 2010-2011 season......

    ONE GOAL.....GET A CENTER!

    Lot of things to be proud of this week-end from the tourney.....but one glarring weakness that keeps showing up is the lack of center play! This must be addressed or next season will mirror this one!

    combined stats from the center position from the Valley tourney(both games)....
    pts........6
    fouls.....12
    rbs.......15

    fix this for next season and look out for the Braves....I like everything else......freshman DSE and JE made big strides...TB will get stronger and better...SM, AW return as top scorers in the league....DD is back....JP will be able to play and MK returns stronger ........so please address the center position!

    You need to correct your slogan, to Get a center AND pound the ball inside!

    The way things are going, we would get a center, but then "forget" to play him, or keep him around the 3 point line for picks


    Even at the beginning of the Creighton game when we were down 9, I was thinking 1-4 we are actually really good. They were not better 1-4, but we can be so weak at the 5 spot it can be impossible to win consistently

      you make a good point PH.......I was just thinking that we have not had an "inside-out" game since POB or ZA! If the ball goes inside now...it is sure to stay there, never a pass out to an open three! Either we dribble to be stripped, make a couple post moves or eventually force up a shot even when tripple-teamed...sort of like a "black hole"....that ball is not coming back once it enters the paint!

            Braves did try the pick and roll with their centers a couple of times and had some success...

              ...although, did not Jim learn the pick n roll from the greatest combo in NBA history, and for some reason, I think Karl was a 4 , not a 5 seting the pick?

                  I think Jim may be too specific in his recruiting of bigs. I do not think Jim would really want an Edgeleseder? or a repeat of Heemskirk. Big, yes, but possibly too slow for Jim's ideal system.
                  Unfortunately, that leaves us in the position of needing to hit a home run with a project or get really, really lucky on a true BCS caliber guy

                    That's why you have to develop systems to fit the players you have not find the players to fit your system.

                      maybe JL should find a system that works....more than his has...

                        my two cents......judging from what I have been hearing......WE and JP are fully capable for manning the 4 and 5 spot next year...with both of them in the game at the same time..our inside game will be fine...we do need another big though to help out....


                        SM, AW, TB, WE, JP .......if we do get JW wow!!!! with DD, DSE, JE etc....

                              See, I would prefer to have one of them playing with a true 5, Not that pure height means anything at all, but I think we should get an absolute Bear on the inside. I don't really care about speed, but I want some huge tank that can flat out own the inside, on both ends of the court.

                              Now, again, that is my little fantasy world, but maybe if we start feeding AT steaks and protein we can get him to gain 60 pounds in the off-season.
