I think the best response is 3 posts above...no bench so someone has to score...I'll also add his defense is questionable at best.

Chitown I often have to agree with but in regards to Maniscalco he is completely deserving of 1st team all conference. Your same arguement can be used just as much for Young, someone on Drakes team had to score.

Sorry but SM should have been on that 1st team.

I only hope our players look at these awards and see how they get no respect from the rest of the league and go out and kick some bu-- this weekend.

My take exactly. I usually don't put much stock into these things, but I really felt he was almost a lock. Perhaps the early season injury did him in. Either way, he has to be pre-season 1st team next year.

You took the words out of my mouth... OE is likely the most over-rated player the valley has seen in quite some time.

Sam almost shot as well from 3-pt land as OE did from the field. OE had a sub 1 A/TO ratio. OE shot 39% from the field in valley play and lost the ball more than he created shots for his team... Sam shot 50% from the field and for every ball his lost, he created 4 points for his team and Sam outscored OE by about half a point. OE did have a rebound over Sam a game, and at the end of the day, OE is no better guarding a 2-guard than Sam is guarding a PG. I guess all that chest beating, trash talking, and shot chucking got OE somewhere... but he has yet to be the best player on his own team.

How many times has Osiris been preseason POY? And now he has gone 4 seasons without the real POY prize. Will he taste an NCAA game?

I'd take him on the Braves in a heartbeat. Jim Les wanted him real, real bad.

I agree completely. I don't see anyone that's even close.

Yeah, I want players who help me win, not those who only look out for themselves. I would much rather have ILSU players like Champ Oguchi, or Dinma, both of which outperformed OE the last two years. I don't ever want a player who calls himself (or would allow himself to be called) 'King.'

I agree. With the right coaching and the right system Osiris could have been a star -- a REAL star. Instead, he will go down as one of the most over-hyped and under-achieving MVC players of all time. A real shame!

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

So I guess you're saying Jim was way off in going hard after Eldridge huh? I want the most talented players I can get. Osiris is one of the league's best, and JL was pretty disappointed not to get him.

BTW, Osiris's team has finished in the top 3 of the MVC 3 years in a row, and have been to 2 straight title games. His overall record for his career is 85-45, 41-31 in league play, and 4-3 in MVC Tournament play. I'd say he's won quite a bit in his career. More than anyone on our team by a wide margin.

Do you know why he's called 'King'? It's because the name 'Osiris' is the name of the King of Egyptian Gods in ancient mythology. Aside from having a mohawk for a season, I don't recall Osiris doing much trash-talking or fist-pumping, I just recall him playing basketball at a high level. He also has averaged more assists and rebounds than you think.

Haha, you really don't know me... Look at every player I've liked and disliked... I definitely think JL was wrong to spend a single minute talking to OE.

Anyway, I have said nothing about his team, but throw out overall record, as they have played a schedule so much easier than BU that its not a fair comparison. And correct me if I'm wrong but SS is like 7-5 in MVC Tourney games, won as many NIT games and has a sweet sixteen Ring, Warren has won as many NIT games and has another year left...

Better watch it...you might be branded a 'hater' by saying Les is talking to the wrong guys! I'm personally am glad he's going after guys as talented as Osiris.

You said he didn't win, and I showed that he did, so you can't say now that you're not talking about his team. How about conference record comparison? 41-31 against BU's in that time span. How about conference tournament record? How is that not apples to apples?

And Sam Singh? You can't be serious. Well, if you'd rather have Sam Singh than Osiris Eldridge than I don't know what to tell ya. I think that statement kind of speaks for itself...it's one for the ages really...

As far as Warren goes, well O has averaged more points, rebounds, assists, and steals in every season but this one (Warren got him in rebounds by .6 this year). He's also played in more real tournaments than AW (1 NIT vs 2 NITs). But hey, never let the facts (wins, stats) get in the way of a good argument!

                              Makes perfect sense to me.

One could also argue P'Allen Stinnett should hold that honor. For all of the fanfare for a player coming into the league, I can't think of a bigger bust in recent memory than Mr. Stinnett.
