I gotta believe that finishing in the top 2-3 teams obviously helped in the judgement of the guys who voted...

    All-MVC

    First team
Dinma Odiakosa, C, Illinois State, Sr.
Adam Koch, F, Northern Iowa, Sr.
Clevin Hannah, G, Wichita State, Sr.
    Josh Young, G, Drake, Sr.
Osiris Eldridge, G, Illinois State, Sr. (got 6 votes for POY - so you gotta wonder if those people are paying attention)

    Second team
Jordan Eglseder, C, Northern Iowa, Sr. (odd--as Eglseder got way more POY votes than Young but lands on 2nd team!)
Kyle Weems, F, Missouri State, So.
    Kenny Lawson, C, Creighton, Jr.
Harry Marshall, G, Indiana State, Sr.
    Sam Maniscalco, G, Bradley, Jr.

    Honorable mention
Kwadzo Ahelegbe, Northern Iowa (also got more votes than Lawson & Marshall!)
    Andrew Warren, Bradley
    Adam Templeton, Drake
    Toure Murry, Wichita State
    Ali Farokhmanesh, Northern Iowa

Player of the Year - Adam Koch

    All-Freshman
    Colt Ryan, G, Evansville
    Seth VanDeest, C, Drake
    Gene Teague, C, Southern Illinois
    Jackie Carmichael, F, Illinois State
    Ethan Wragge, F, Creighton

Freshman of the Year: Colt Ryan

    All-Newcomer
Adam Leonard, G, Missouri State, Jr.
Tony Freeman, G, Southern Illinois, Sr.
    Colt Ryan, G, Evansville, Fr.
Jermaine Mallett, F, Missouri State, Jr.
    Ryan Wedel, G, Drake, Jr.
Gabe Blair, F, Wichita State, Jr.

Newcomer of the Year: Adam Leonard

    All-Defensive
    Toure Murry, Wichita State
    Dinma Odiakosa, Illinois State
    Adam Koch, Northern Iowa
    Osiris Eldridge, Illinois State
    Kenny Lawson, Creighton
    Harry Marshall, Indiana State
    Kwadzo Ahelegbe, Northern Iowa

    Defensive MVP: Dinma Odiakosa

    Sixth Man: Lucas O'Rear

I can only imagine what would be being said on TB's twitter account right now if he still had one...

Sammy should be on there over Hannah. DSE is better than almost all of those freshmen. Other than that, looks pretty fair.

I really hope TB and DSE use this type of snubbing as motivation... when it is all said and done DSE will make everyone forget about the 5 who made the all freshman team. And Brown is the overall, when his mind is right, best player in this conference.

Congrats Sammy, you also got jobed, Josh Young/Clevin Hannah ... please.

Unfortunately I think the TB and DSE omissions are more a reflection of our record than the players themselves. I don't think the people voting could justify 3 players from a 5th place team being all-league (1st, 2nd, or honorable mention) and have an all-freshman candidate.

Though, Drake had a 1st teamer (Young), honorable mention (Templeton), all-freshman (Van Deest), and all-newcomer (Wedel), so it makes you wonder how they were so bad. If I was a Drake fan I would be asking why they were so bad with all of those notable players.

I think the Young pick of Maniscalco was probably more of a 'Lifetime Achievement' honor than from this year's MVC performance. Sammy's numbers are hard to argue with, and he plays on a better team than Young.

I don't see how TB doesn't get Most Improved. He's among the national leaders in scoring average difference this year.

Kyle Weems and SM over Josh Young and Clevin Hannah.

Mercy...I have never disagreed more with the selections!

Wouldnt surprise me if Odiakosa gets most improved also. Tornado I will be the first one to agree that Osiris prolly didnt deserve votes for POY, but i bet most coaches would tell you he was the one of the most gameplanned players in the league. He also leads the league in scoring I believe which is going to garner votes. Like someone stated above votes go to guys whose team are at the top. Might not be fair but it is reality.

I didn't expect the BU guys to get much respect.

Probably the one name I see that most doesn't deserve it is Gabe Blair on the All-Newcomer team. He is averaging 6.8 ppg and 4.9 rpg in a reserve role for WSU. there are other newcomers like Carmichael, Lewis, and others, who were starting and putting up much better numbers than that.

2 straight seasons with Eldridge on the All-Defense 1st team. Man oh man what can they be thinking?
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

..so the non-UNI POY votes are mostly from UNI, and UNI would rather face ISU than, say BU..
