Carr and Timmons were pretty good, but how did Darren Brooks not get in the top 10? Wasn't he the MVC POY 2 times? He was an all-around great player and a winner. Funk a top-10 player? Not in my book. Very overrated - just happened to be on good teams.
Id put Cam Johnson infront of Ryan Sears. A little disappointed no Dan Mueller, he was excellent in his time at ISU.
But no 20 year team in the Valley is right when it does not include Bob Harstad or Chad Gallagher. They were one of the best duos to ever play in the Valley but their team also won the 91 tourney.

Agree with you on Brooks. He was a stud.
Gotta disagree with you on Funk though. He was a superstar.
It was a fan vote, and only for the last 20 years since the tournament has been in St. Louis. Such fan votes usually seem to select either all-time greats like Korver and Parker, or the recent guys that are more fresh in people's memory (Tatum, Funk, Eldridge).
There are quite a few pretty good players left off the list, including some very good players from Tulsa, since I doubt their fans were voting much.

You are right about Brooks, he is more deserving then Sears, Eldridge. Funk was a ton, but I am not sure he was one of the 10 best players in the MVC tourney in the last 10 years. Very good and very important to his team but was he top 10 best, I dont believe so.

Great point. Shea Seals and Michael Ruffin should both be on that list. Both were part of an MVC Tournament Champion that went on to the Sweet 16. Both also had a cup of coffee in the NBA; Ruffin did a couple of stints with the Bulls.
Also, Gary Collier was the MVC Player of the Year in 1994, and Lou Dawkins was Defensive POY in 1994. Both were very good, though Seals is the one who deseves to be All Tournament for outplaying Anthony Parker to win the 1996 championship.

Shea Seals was one of the top players in the Valley ever. I'd say top 20. The Valley use to get a few really great players but for the last 20 there have been good ones but besides Seals and Parker there's not one I'd put in the top 20 or call great.
