Highly unlikely this will happen, but what if UNI doesn't win the Valley tournament and gets the shaft by the selection committee? I don't think that will happen (getting shafted), but they did lose to DePaul and Evansville. Two REALLY bad losses. Like I said, I don't think it will happen, but from what we've seen from the selection committee the last couple years, I would not be shocked if for some reason UNI was left out.
I'm just saying a lot COULD play out. Would UNI be put in the tournament over UAB? Notre Dame from the almighty Big East? I agree it won't happen but all I was trying to say is I would not be surprised if they get left out like Missouri St did a few years ago.
Best thing for the MVC is UNI losing a close game in the finals to WSU.
Two in trumps one with a higher seed anytime.
One team in is automatic, a higher seed considered a 'fluke'/gift by the basketball genius's, easily explained as UNI being in a weak conference running up its record.
Two teams in the Dance reflects a stronger conference. Plus, anything can happen in the Dance, and I'd rather have two chances vs one.
Two in also gives the Valley more exposure in the various media, radio, TV, print etc. Not to mention more $$$ for the Valley to share with league members.
...all I was trying to say is I would not be surprised if they get left out like Missouri St did a few years ago.
Missouri St did not win the MVC outright by themself. The MVC Regular Season Champ with UNI's resume like they have this year will NOT be left out of the NCAA field.
This question is so obviously one sided. What would be better is to add get 2 teams in with terrible seeds and both go one and done or UNI getting a favorable seed and getting into the Sweet 16.
I myself in that situation would have to go with UNI getting to the Sweet 16.

Money generated for the MVC would be more if a team played in 3 games versus 2 teams playing in one game each for a total of 2 games.
