I really like Fitz's in the loop. It's not exactly high class if that's what your looking for but it's got good rootbeer and food. It's sandwhiches, burgers, wraps, wings, pizza, etc....that type of place.

Love Zia's but I heard they had a little trouble with a fire. Not sure if they've reopened. Best thing about St. Louis is there food.

Blueberry Hill in the Loop takes the cake for me. Great food, great atmosphere. It's a bar and grill owned by Chuck Berry with live music on the weekends and some really, really awesome memorabilia on the walls. If you are into music at all, you'll love it!

If it's a family thing for you or if you are young enough to do it and still think it's fun...go to the City Museum.

Eleven Eleven Mississippi is a pretty good place...

Not necessarily on the Friday when its a busy day of basketball, BUT after the Sat. games to go back to your hotel and clean up and head out.

                Here's some info:

1111 Mississippi, St. Louis, MO 63104
                314-241-9999 ?· FAX: 314-241-1367

The Broadway Oyster Bar is also pretty outstanding for anyone who likes a Mardi Gras southern type atmosphere...not the greatest service and always packed, BUT the food is outstanding.

                736 S Broadway, St. Louis, MO 63102
                314-621-8811

Also don't know if anyone listed, but for those who love Italian, my top places would be:

                Cunnetto's
                Trattoria Marcella on Watson Rd.
                Charlie Gitto's Downtown
                Dominic's on the Hill
                Giuseppe's on the Hill

Most places you may have to drive a little ways for, but it'll be worth it...

Then again on an average night, I drive a good 30-40 minutes for dinner

                  I almost forgot...

IF you are downtown, you must go to the Landing...its down near the riverfront and has a big group of bars and clubs in a small area...

Morgan Street Brewery is a must for everyone, while Sundeckers and the Big Bang are places that some should at least pop into and are fun places to go to OR if you like Jazz, head to BB's and The Beale on South Broadway.

Finally, for the beer and wine drinkers, the Schlafly Tap Room @ the Brewery off Locust is the place to go....a ridiculous variety of beers and wines to choose from and live music on the weekends.

Have I given you guys enough places to go

Ive seen several people menion Morgan Street Brewery. While it is OK, if your a beergeek like me then Schlafly Brewery and Tap Room is a must visit for me when I am in St. Louis. It is on Locust st, which runs parallel to Market. It is probably 6-7 blocks from Scott Trade Center to the NW. Very short cab ride. They have about 10-12 taps, and they always have many interesting beers, some special stuff that they dont bottle so you only see it at the brewery. The building itself is in a neat old warehouse district part of town and it is a big rehabbed 19th century brick building with lots of cool exposed beams and stuff like that. Very good food, great bar, very friendly, and they have a big game room/ pool table/ TV area. Worth a stop.

Is Jake's still open on The Landing? That place would have to be, hands down, one of the worst dining experiences of my life. It wasn't during Arch Madness, but it was on a Cardinals weekend in May a few years back. What's funny is that we were staying at the Hilton by the ballpark, but the guy coordinating everything for us booked us at Jake's instead of Shannon's for our steak dinner. In his defense the place had a good review, and he had just moved to St. Louis, but we still chuckle about it every now and again.
                        Onward and Upward!

How exactly do you let someone who just moved there coordinate a trip?!

Anyways, I can tell you Shannon's is far from the best steak in the area...

                          I'd prefer Tucker's any day!

Just because LaRussa says a place is great doesn't make it so

I agree. The big bang is the type of place you have more fun the more crowded it is. It's a great piano bar. Just all around fun.

Went there last year when it opened on Thur. night(8pm?) We were the only group in there for an hour (10 Bradley fans). Then between 9-10 - I look behind me and a sea of CU Blue. HUGE crowd that was all Creighton. It was fun, but need some Bradley fans in this year on Thursday night to help out the numbers!

He had lived there for 6 months and had a bunch of friends who lived there. Who else is supposed to coordinate? We were going down there to visit him.

I don't know what LaRussa said about Shannon's, I just know there's no way it could have been as bad as Jake's. And it was in our hotel.
