I still expect a good finish to this year, so I'm not looking past the end of this season already but now that the regular season in the Valley is over, I started to think of what teams have back next year while we have a week off.
It seems like the Valley should be really good next year. I think we could even get a couple in the top 25 and have multiple (3-4) bids. The only teams that seem to lose a lot and will maybe take a step back are UNI and IL. St.
In no particular order and not counting what teams have coming in:
UNI should still be decent with Moran, O'Rear, and Ahelegbe, but i expect bottom half next year and a big drop off.
IL. St. loses their top 3 players, so will need Carmichael, Hill, Rubin, Thorton, and Lewis to really increase their production to be any good.
Drake loses Templeton and Young, but still has some talent coming back and didn't do very good this year so at least they won't take a step back.
Creighton loses Carter, Witter, and probably Stinnett (not much of a loss) but they seem to have some good young shooters and most of their front line coming back.
WSU should be really good losing just Hannah which is a big loss but still they look to be very good next year (20+ wins and 2nd place already this year!!)
Evansville should be a ton better losing no one.
Bradley should be very good next year losing just Roberts and Singh.
Missouri St. just losses Fuehrmeyer and looks dangerous.
SIU just loses Tony Freeman and could be much better.
In. St. loses Marshall, Crawford, and Reed but has a lot of good shooters and talent coming back and played well without Marshall for a while anyway.
I think BU and WSU look really good coming into next year! Are we a back as a "power league" next year? (I consider power leagues to be the Big 6, and then the A10, MWC, and MVC all on most years)
