Here's an interesting comment.....I would love to hear from those who say
that most D-I athletic departments DO not draw on taxpayer revenues, and are self-sufficent..
I suspect very FEW are self sufficient if all the truth were known...
at least these guys are honest...
"Northern Iowa ..now receives $4.6 million in taxpayer money annually to help run the athletics department.
Iowa State receives about $3 million in taxpayer money...."

The State of Iowa, already broke and cutting back on their court systems, is now looking to pull any taxpayer dollars
that are being used to support sports and athletic departments....
That means they'll have to start covering their own costs, just like the private schools have been doing for well over a century...
hopefully other states will follow suit!!!!
But watch -- once the public schools can no longer rip off taxpayers to strengthen their programs,
they'll start falling behind the private schools, and then someone will come up with the proposal to add a multiplier
or other penalty against the private schools as soon as they win more championships that someone likes........
Iowa State is getting money cut as well................so there goes the slush fund they were counting on to get JW --
Looks like all of Iowa's junior colleges are also getting budget cuts......but some Iowa State Employees are still getting perks... but it looks like that might not last very long either.

The large state schools will have to just start tapping into their alumni base a little harder. They have a much bigger base to work then private schools so where they will have to catch up in is, in how to raise funds. Some of those state schools already do a pretty good job. They will also cut into non-revenue generating sports in which they cannot raise funds for through alums. The big football and basketball programs will probably just continue to be funded as usual."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
