CU game means nothing to us. We get the 4 seed if we beat them Saturday regardless unless ISU Blue wins tomorrow.

Their resume is suddenly starting to look really sketchy with losses to DePaul, Evansville, and Bradley.
Quality wins are home wins over Siena and Old Dominion...not exactly awe-inspiring stuff.

Looking like we are getting close to being a one bid league regardless of who wins the tournament...ugh.
This is what happens when you have too many teams improving over the previous year, but beating each other up so much that only one team is able to pull ahead of the pack. Take a look at the Big Ten this year to see what a more ideal setup would be. The five teams that have pulled ahead of the rest of the pack probably all make the tournament, basically mirroring what the Valley accomplished in 2006 minus one or two teams being left out.

This is now three years in a row where only one or two teams were clearly NCAA Tournament material. That will not do if we are to consistently become a conference that produces multiple NCAA caliber teams each year.

Creighton wins in OT 83-78. Once again SIU gave another game away late that they looked like they had control of.

No kidding. And kudos to the MWC and the A-10 for pulling ahead of us in mid-major pecking order. They both deserve to get all the bids they do earn.

Not sure I'd want to be playing Evansville in the 7 vs 10 play in game. It took them a long time but with wins over UNI and WSU the last 2 weeks they might be starting to put it together. They have some good young talent like Colt Ryan and James Haarsma. They won't win the Mo Valley tournament but I'd look for them next year to make some noise.

Yeah, but I don't have a lot of confidence that we can beat CU at their place.

Hmmm, sounds familiar! Sounds like a certain other team that gave away leads late a lot this year.

We'd better win one of these next 2 to be sure we won't fall to that 7 spot.

The win by Creighton actually helped BU in that if we tie for 5th with Ind.St. we get the 5th seed, now lets take care of business against Wichita St. tomorrow night.

Hard to believe that could happen........somewhere else I mean.

Did anyone else watch the CU-SIU game on the MVC-TV network (FoxSports Midwest and Comcast Chicago)?
SIU really threw this game away, literally.
Kevin Dillard did not play because he sprained an ankle in a practice Monday. But SIU lead most of the game, Creighton came back to tie late because of some poor shooting and decisions by SIU, but then SIU took the lead again and should have won the game.
But on a simple inbounds play, Justin Bocot threw a wild pass right to Antoine Young of Creighton. Creighton scored to tie the game, then on their last possession, SIU was called for charging and a basket was waved off. The game went to overtime where Creighto never trailed.

                        box score-

what has happened to SIU - the SIU I remember never gave up 80 points...
and the SIU I recall from the Weber/Painter days played a little defense and didn't let someone dribble right down the lane and give up easy shots - especially in OT!!

Plus, Wragge shoots all of his shots from exactly the same place...has nobody figured that out yet?

                              I don't know about terrible.

I actually thought they played fairly well considering what I had seen from them earlier in the year.

I think this team is better than the one we beat over there and better than the one that beat us up in Peoria.

I also found it interesting that their offense seemed more effective with Dillard in street clothes....

                                Good news!!!
The way CU looked last night, I'm not sure I'd want to face them in the 1st game of the tourney, but STILL think we'd have a better chance to win than vs. I.S.U. (red). Creighton's guys are gaining confidence - especially the younger guys like Young and Wragge. Let's get a W tonight!
