This is why you buy tickets BEFORE the season starts!

Aren't student tickets only $1? The student section should be FULL for every game. It's their school after all.
Being a student who attends every game, I can tell you we have a very uninformed student population. Why on game days theres no one outside of cafeterias, the student center, etc selling tickets is beyond me. And other than an also ineffective weekly email with all school events, theres not much to tell the casual fan when games are.

      Are you being sarcastic?[/QUOTE]

Ive been to every game at home but 1, and unfortunately that one wasnt one of our losses. So yes to the sarcasm

Most BU students come when BU is very good...otherwise forget it.

I have always said that BU has the most fickle student-fans of anywhere I have seen. Even when I was a student, they never came to games.

They need to start selling those seats to other fans and moving the students to somewhere else if were are only going to get a handful of em.

Despite the disappointing record, and the economical issues, Bradley is still drawing well by comparison to the other teams in the MVC, and nationally. The majority of college teams have seen a decline in attendance.

According to the MVC, Bradley's average attendance for all home games is 9,349.
Bradley's average of 9,349 ranks third behind Creighton, and Wichita State, as it does every year. BU is still more than 2000 per game ahead of the 4th ranked team in attendance (MSU).

Bradley's average home attendance last year was 9,110, so they are on pace to exceed last year's average.

          School...............2009-10....2008-09....Diff.
          Northern Iowa......5,511........4,212....+1,299
          Indiana State.......4,392........4,009....+383
          Wichita State......10,398......10,094....+304
          Bradley................9,349........9,110....+239
          Missouri State.......7,265........7,147....+118
          Creighton........... 15,934......15,930....+4
          Illinois State.........6,532........7,118....-586
          Drake..................4,406........5,101....-695
          Evansville............4,840........5,863....-1,023
          Southern Illinois....4,774........5,892....-1,118

This years stats-scroll down about 1/2 way to see attendance numbers-

I am not arguing your numbers or trying to start something here, but....

Tickets sold and tickets used are two different things. I understand BU only cares about the # sold, but the actual attendance at games SEEMS down to me this year.

It probably is, but IMO it has as much to do with the odd times and days for the games than anything. We have never had so many afternoon games, and Sunday games as we have had this year. And the abundance of Wednesday night games always hurts the attendance, too (church activities for many).

Why doesn't UNI draw more? They are a top 25 team in the country and the best team in Iowa.

I understand your point, but the topic was "sellout". You can't sell more tickets than there are seats. People actually showing up to the game has nothing to do with discounted tickets. Some people would rather stay home and watch the Bears on television. It that's a reason to not go, then it's pretty much wide open as to why people don't show up.

I completely agree with you. I was just pointing out that I thought the crowds SEEMED down to me this year.

Why doesn't illinois state draw more? They have MANY more students, are coming off an NIT season, and have one of the most successful coaches in the conference. Seems their marketing/discounted tickets aren't doing much for them.

You are right ISU should draw more.We will have to see how the ticket discounts work.

Which doesn't exactly coincide with the "tough economic times" reasoning. Why would 2-3,000 people buy tickets for something and not show up in these tough times?

I realize that and it sucks. I'm just saying there are discounted tickets available if you purchase them before the season. I would like to see Bradley giving some tickets away, but only on 96.5 or WMBD. I would not want a Rivermen situation, where you can turn on ANY local radio station and they are constantly giving away tickets. A limited number for each game would be nice though.
