  • Recruiting pipeline to Australia

Australian Andrew Bogut was the National Player of the Year in NCAA basketball a year ago, and there are several other Australian players playing in the NCAA. Australia has an outstanding training program for amateur basketball and will be a force in international play in future years. In recent years there has been intense competetion among college coaches for the prospects coming out of Australia.
Watch for Mark Turgeon and Wichita State to become a player for some of these Australians in the future. He just hired a former official of the Australia amateur basketball program, Brent Coxsedge, as his new Director of Basketball Operations
    at Wichita State.
Here is a link to the story. (The site appears to be having problems, but hopefully it will be back on soon).

There are a bunch of schools in the west that have Australian players. I know Utah, St. Marys, and New Mexico do. And here is an article about Kevin Stallings and Vanderbilt making recruiting trips to Australia. He is after another big man named Andrew Ogilvy.
