UCLA is a bad mid-major...seriously!!
it is truly hard to believe that they have 7 Top 100 players on their roster (two players are 5-Star players and two more are Top 50)
and a full 13 players are top 150!!
how can a coach like Ben Howland not get this team to win?
Same goes for UNC - how can all those McD AA'a play so bad? (or are they coached bad?)
Boy -- I hate to rehash this thread from nearly a year ago -- but did you see that UCLA lost yesterday AT HOME to Montana, 66-57, and were outrebounded, committed more turnovers & fouls, and had fewer assists and way worse shooting (52% vs. 31%)?
UCLA has now lost four in a row, a couple to mid-majors....
and the excuses we heard last year about injuries and turnover of talent just don't wash this season...
And I recall some right here on this board wondered what they're doing going hard after a junior college point guard from John A. Logan juco who averaged 14.5 pts, 4.8 asst...who wasn't previously even ranked in the Top 200 juco kids until UCLA went after him.
This year -- everyone on their team is healthy and they have a complete lineup of BLUE CHIPPERS...4-Star and 5-Star recruits...(except Jones)
In fact -- over the past four years, they've landed 14 kids who were 4-Star or 5-Star (inside the top 75) and only one went early to the NBA (Kevin Love)..
So -- what's the excuse now...
This article speculates that head coach Ben Howland could be fired before the season is over...
"Their point guards (Lazeric Jones and Jerime Anderson) stink....
..That’s not good enough in UCLA. Howland’s Final Four run undoubtedly earned him another season
with the Bruins, but it’ll be one without any room for error.
If he lasts that long."

UCLA was 14-18 last year, in a weakened Pac-10, and are already 3-4 this year...with a fairly soft schedule except for Kansas.
PS-- UCLA has the sons of two different ex_NBA players (Alex Schrmpf, Jack Haley) and the great grandson of John Wooden on their squad, plus they
also have the two 5-Star Wear brothers, (Travis, Tyler) who just transferred fvrom North Carolina!
They also have a high school teammate of Sean Harris, Brendan Lane of Rocklin HS.

Sounds like a great opportunity for JL to move up! He could come in and right the ship for UCLA. With his recruiting savy, run and gun 'Showtime' offense and coaching ability in the face of injuries, he's a perfect fit. His No Cal connections would help as well. By any chance, do they need a new stadium or practice facility? Bruin fans must be salivating for a change, unless of course, they are afraid of change! Just sayin'....

By the way, Love is not the only player to leave early in the last four years. They lost Westbrook the same year (after his softmore season) and Holiday the year after. the Wear brothers are also irrelevant to the team's success this year, as they are not eligible this season.
