  • Problems for Braves on and off the court

That is the headline in today's PJStar.

It touches on today's game with Drexel and Taylor Brown's twitter posts.

    According to Jim Les:

???It??™s an issue we??™re handling internally,??? Les said. ???It??™s fair to say I??™m not at all happy with it.???

???They understand the parameters under which they??™re allowed to do those things,??? Les said. ???If they can??™t handle those parameters, then privileges will have to be taken away. Certainly they??™ve been educated and warned and schooled about it.???

No mention of what the punishment could be or if there will be any.

TB is guilty of rudeness, crassness, and immaturity. Despite wailing and gnashing of teeth elsewhere, and demands for legal action against him, or permanent expulsion, I can't see any law that was broken, or any student or athletic code that was violated. Anyone know one? It probably violates some team rules, and for that it will be dealt with by the coach.
This seems like a tempest in a teapot to me. There are far worse actions by athletes every day at any school, but this one played out on twitter which gave the BU-bashers an orgasm. TB has apologized to everyone involved and the apologies have been accepted, and life will go on.
Anyone coming to tonight's game to see #3 play could be disappointed.

I think you are correct here Da Coach. I think or hope that Taylor Brown has learned a lesson from this. He has been given several chances already. If we believe this own words from yesterday, he seems to realize he has to work on this problem.

Taylor is being punished way more for a minor tweeting indiscretion than some schools penalized their multiple DUI's!!

        Trivia question...-
Sam Maniscalco just passed the 1000 point mark, and Andrew Warren is just 54 points away from the same career accomplishment...
Who is the next highest career scorer currently at Bradley?
The answer might surprise you, as CRob just passed Dodie last game....
now..if you asked who is the next highest who has scored ALL his points at BU, then after CRob, it is Taylor Brown..

Bradley can and should only worry about Bradley. Taylor needs to realize that team rules have to be followed by everyone. I think he understands that.

I hope he does. I hope BU can move forward from this.

Agree BradleyJD. Bradley players are and should be held to a higher standard, IMO.

Agree DC. Unless he was warned previously, I make TB run until he pukes, and have him work in a community project in the area. Unless I am missing something which could be the case as I have been very busy with things , I think that he should play tonight!
              Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I do support coach Les but I am worried that he has lost this team as far as them conforming to rules as far as outside activity, they are spending way too much time late at night, where is the curfew and where is the commitment from our players.

Any time you have college age students, you are running the risk of questionable behavior. That is the same no matter what school you are at.

I think you have to make sure you have rules in place. But more importantly, you must actively police those rules and insure that everyone is following them. That would help cut some of these problems down before they get out of hand.

Hopefully, TB has learned from this and we will see him at Bradley in the future doing some great things.

I'm getting a little tired of hearing "I hope TB has learned a lesson". How many lessons does he have to learn. For all his talent, IMO he has been nothing but a distraction for this team.

Well, this is the problem with these online message boards. Technology is great in that people can communicate without having to phone someone all the time, but you run the risks with who can read what is posted. I know if I posted some messages against my place of work and my boss read them, there is a very good chance I would get fired or suspended at the very least. The same goes with TB.

TB should know better than to post stuff that the team does not want let out. I had a feeling some punishment would come down after reading some of his posts earlier this season. And now when the team really needs to finish strong he potentially might be benched again.

However, you are exactly right DC that compared to what players on other teams pull, this is a minor infraction and Les will handle this internally, as he should. TB did not drive drunk, commit an assault or do drugs. And most importantly he did not break any laws. But I can see from an appearances standpoint that you don't want one of your players revealing things that should be kept in private. Hopefully this will be dealt with swiftly, and if his latest twitter post is any indication, this may be his last chance. So let's hope he makes the most of it!

I'm pretty positive he lost them a long time ago...

If you want to be their friend that's fine, bit you can't also be their head coach...

It just doesn't work that way...

Things have gotten way out of hand on more than a few occasions and changes need to be made.
