No dispute here on parity. Just don't agree with good league this year (or last). The ACC is also mediocre this year.... as is the SEC, Pac-10 and a few others.
I'd be curious as to whether anyone else thinks the MVC is a good league this year..........
Compared to 2006, the league is about as far from good as it can get...
The MVC is still the 9th best conference in America. Now, how you define "good" when you're #9 may vary from fan to fan. But that's reasonably OK for me.
Cornell is a good team. They were ranked and kicking everyone's butt. Penn is several games out of 1st yet they have shown they can more than play Cornell even.
By his own logic, tornado must accept that as evidence of parity in a good league.
I personally do not think there is much parity in the Ivy League, and believe that the league is not very good. I especially believe that Penn is one of the worst D-1 teams out there. But I guess that is just my opinion as tornado's logic says otherwise.
Your opinion is right. We played both teams this year. Cornell pulled away very late and gave us one of our few home losses. I think Cornell is not as good as many think actually from the fact that we had a chance to beat them, but penn is absolutely dreadful. I was shocked they were able to complete a few passes and actually shoot the ball, yet alone beat cornell by 15. That game was clearly a fluke, however a very bad fluke for cornell, if they were to need an at large. Cornell can be beaten if you take away the 3 point shot. They have some bigs but they rely too much on the 3 ball.
We did win the MWC-Mo Valley challenge and the Mountain West is rated higher than the Valley. I do like our chances to dominate the Bracketbusterm although Bradley WILL NOT beat Drexel without Taylor Brown.
So we win The Challenge and say win 70% of Bracketbuster games. I would say, The Valley is a very good Mid major conference.,... with alot of parity 2-9.
sorry, I don't follow your definition of logic (thankfully), instead I watch the teams and draw my own conclusions...and those conclusions are not necessarily the ones that everyone else will accept..
but then, I long ago stopped trying to just please the others who have not seen those teams play...
Parity in the MVC? Absolutely or we wouldn't have so many teams jammed in the middle or have the last place Aces beat the 2nd place Shockers one time and force them to overtime the other game or have the anywhere from 7th to 4th place Braves be one of only two teams to beat UNI during conference play and almost twice at that.
Now does this mean that the Valley is good this year? I think we are not but we are somewhat close. 9th in the conference rank is not too bad when you consider that there is the power 6 and then everyone else, however the Valley is not positioned to get two bids and that I think is what people use to define how good the Valley is. We need UNI to lose in the tourney in order to get two teams in. If the MVC was having a good year, then we shouldn't be worried about trying to get two in, we should be worried about trying to get three in, at least IMHO.

You don't follow what I said? I took your words and applied them to a virtually identical situation. I didn't think it was that hard to follow? Like others have said, good is relative. Compared to most mid and lower major leagues, the MVC is good. Compared to the MVC of 3-4 years ago, it is not. Even compared to this year's Pac-10 (and I see all those teams play all the time), this year's MVC is not as good as this year's Pac-10.
Oh I bet I've seen more of the 347 D-1 teams play than most everyone here...even caught USC-Upstate and their big man once. BU could use a guy like him, but I guess we can't possibly compete to get those kinds of big men, although somehow USC-Upstate apparently could. If they could shoot straight, they'd have been much better in the A-Sun.
The ACC is a good major conference that is having a down year.
The MVC is a good mid-major conference that is also having a down year.
There.
Yea, yea, yea! The MVC is a quality conference that is just having a down year overall and to me unless WSU wins out (SOS is terrible) they do not deserve to dance. The conference could have changed the perception of this by having a above average SOS but it does not! The conference is very average this year!
