  • Indiana State planning on postseason

    Interesting article-
Postseason plans afoot for ISU men??™s team

    one interesting part says-
The NIT is a bid process to host games, but it would likely cost ISU no less than $100,000. The CBI financial guarantee was $60,000 last season. The CIT guarantee last season was $28,500.

Does anyone know if this is true about the NIT? In the last couple years, since the NCAA bought out and controls the NIT, the teams were selected on merit, using the same criteria the NCAA tournament uses. And home court was awarded to the team seeded higher, regardless of how much revenue was generated.

Also note that for their last home game, a private company in Teer Haute has bought up all the remaining tickets and are giving them away to insure there is a sellout for their senoir night.

There is also a report that Harry Marshall and Dwayne Lathan could return possibly as soon as next Wednesday for Indiana State's game at Illinois State.-

The winner next Wednesday likely gets the 3 seed...that should be motivation enough for ISU Blue.

They actually wouldn't "control their own destiny" if they beat the Birds, because they would still have to beat MSU, AND the Birds would still have to lose at UNI... both of those would be in their favor, but not done deals...

Indiana St is not hosting an NIT game. I will eat everyone's hat if they play their way into an NIT home game.

After the sycs get pasted in Normal next wednesday, their finale with Mo St should be an all-out brawl, with loser likely headed to the PIG, as long as we take care of Wichita

The Sycs may have a better chance beating ISU Red than BU beating WSU, particularly if some of the sick Syc players are returning. Most of the feel good from the UNI upset is now gone.

That is why I said likely. I don't see the Birds winning at UNI, and since MSU has beaten only Evansville on the road in the MVC, they're not likely to win in Terre Haute.
