What's the rule about a player contacting another coach about a transfer?
A coach cannot communicate with an athlete enrolled at another school, unless that athlete has been released to contact other coaches..

So an athelte could be allowed to contact other coaches while still on scholarship, and then decide whether to transfer or not? Or do they have basically have to leave school before they can communicate with other coaches?

They cannot have any contact with another coach unless they have been granted a release by their current school to do so.

SFP, thanks for the clarification. It is hard to keep track of the developments. Him and Wilkins and of course Wilkins younger brother will redeem the program overnight.

I second that... still remember when they cranked Frank at the Fieldhouse because we were going to New York City!
                    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

There is a reason most the time why they are leaving. The gap between MVC and Big Ten is smaller than ever. Look at Freeman for SIU good player but not the dominant force everyone thought he would be. All that being said good for Matt Roth if he feels he is better at another school.
IMO, there isn't much of a gap at all when it comes to guard play between the Big Ten and the MVC. Big men, that's a different story.

Evan Turner, Kalin Lucas, Demetri McCamey, Taylor Battle, Manny Harris, Trevon Hughes, E'twuan Moore

There is not one guard in the valley that is consistently as good as those above....and there are plenty more that could be argued for....

IMO the gap isn't that small.

Those guys, and a few others, are a handful of elite guards. The next level of guards after those guys are comparable to what the Valley has. But every Big Ten team has depth of big men, any one of which, including many deep reserves (like Semrau, Griffey, etc.) would probably be a starter, and maybe a star in the MVC.

Great trip. A bunch of us watched the semi win over Oklahoma at the Tartan. Don D called and got the charter flights going as soon as the game was over. Didn't take long to fill up the first plane, so started the 2nd one. Our flight left in the early afternnon and got back early the next morning. Fast trip, but man what a night. Had to pry us out of a bar near the Garden to get us to Newark to fly out.

My dad always told that story about getting the planes. He and mom loved traveling with the Braves!

                                Long live the Tartan
