The NBA playoffs are pretty exciting IMO and that's with my team not making the play-offs for the foreseeable future. I guess when most on this board are Bulls' fans I can somewhat understand but if MJ was still there in his prime I'm sure you would feel differently. I personally can't wait to see AP in the finals! The Cavs are loaded.

I'm game for any post season. Love going to the games and love playing teams that we normally wouldn't play ie Cincy, Ohio, UVA, Tulsa, etc. Hopefully the administration goes for it as I am sure that it is not a coaches's decision to accept invites to these "other" tournaments, but a late February-early March winning streak could get us into the NIT if we do well in St. Louis, IMHO.

I can't see any way BU gets an NIT bid unless we win out and lose in the MVC championship game. This would have us finishing 6-1 with a 19-14 record and we would still only get consideration because of the hot finish. I just can't see us finishing any better than 5-2 (this assumes losing in MVC Championship game); I don't think 18-15 from the weak MVC conference is enough.

That's your opinion and 100% fair and okay.

I don't care if it's a "second-rate" tourney... we all KNOW it's no NCAA/NIT. I like to see them play and gain some experience and have some fun.

My thought? If you don't like it, don't watch, if you do like it... enjoy!

I'm always for extending the season as long as possible since it only shortens my withdrawal pains until the next season starts.

I agree. I also wonder what the love affair is with the NIT. Isn't there only ONE national championship tournament? All others are "meaningless".

I really think the "goals" of the season should be (A) win the MVC regular season, (B) win the MVC tournament, and/or (C) make the NCAA field. Isn't there something wrong if we have "make the NIT field" as part of our "goals". I don't see how that is much different than any other tournament that doesn't involve the national championship.

I'm a Wizard fan since way back but I have gone to an occasional Warriors game and they are one fun team to watch no matter how bad they are. I'm surprised though that Nellie is playing a rookie so much! That tells you really how good Curry is. Just as sweet a player in the pros as in the NBA!

One good thing about playing in a tournament other than NIT/NCAA is for the players to show us that they have pride and will play hard no matter who they're up against.
AW has proven to be focused and competitive vs. the better teams, but he seems unprepared and lacks intensity & focus vs. mediocre competition.

This team needs to put together 2 straight games of intensity, focus, and good execution. If it comes at the end of the season, that could be a building block for next season. I think the only back-to-back games this season where we accomplished this was vs. MSU and @ SIU in the first half of the Valley season.
Hopefully we'll see it over the next 2 games at least, but maybe I'm expecting too much...again.

I agree and I also agree with others about the NIT being just as irrelevant as the CIT and CBI. If you're not dancin, it doesn't matter! I really would like this team to string some W's together like ISU is right now.

for someone to say that just missing the ncaa tournament and playing in the nit is the same as playing in the cit......i just dont see it.

after the 65 teams are in the ncaa. the nit without a doubt take the next best. then the other tournaments. so if your in the nit you should at least be considered one oif the top third of ncaa divsion i schools. not he case with the other tournament. moving down the tournament ladder to play lesser competition to me is not a good thing. the program should have some standards.

In the absence of the NCAA's, if BU can find someway to get into the NIT, go for it. More national media than the CIT/CBI and more credibility for BU.

Appearing in the CBI and CIT, allowing BU to post 20 win seasons but no championships, doesn't appear to have done much for BU's program the past two seasons re their recruiting or player/team development. Ditto the pre-season trip to Brazil.

Does anyone know if BU has benefitted financially from the CBI/CIT appearances?

Because the CBI guarantee was around $60,000 per game, I heard they barely broke even, only because it went 4 games, and the last one drew a CBI record 9,000+. The guarantee for the CIT was less than half that amount, and BU again played 4 home games, but the attendance was a little lower than for the CBI. I heard they made a small profit.
