Postseason Tournament

With three games remaining on our schedule, the valley tournament, and at 13-13 currently, how many wins will it take us to get to some post season tourney? Although I know I said that no one cares about the CbI or CBT or whatever else besides the NCAA and NIT, I still like to watch my team play. And heck, anything that bridges the gap between college basketball, and MLB, I'm happy

I'm going to say it will take a record of at least 16-15 (2 out of our final 3, and then 1 in the Valley tournament)

I think BU needs 3 wins at the very least.

I think 9-9 in Valley play would be the magic number to be invited to one of the tournaments.

If we win our next, say, 4 games, we're on the periphery of the NIT. 5 and I'd say the NIT is probable, as long as we end up solo 4th.

The CIT was replace by the "Little League Tourney (LLT)". The tourney's is operated by soccer mom's who feel that everyone should be a winner. No record is too bad. Every game will end in a tie, and we will all get a ribbon.

The CBI invites multiple sub .500 teams, in fact , its champion Oregon St finished 17-18 or something like that. The problem is(unless they've changed) they take an enormous amount of the gate and require the teams to put up 60K to host....that's mainly why we went the CIT route last year and likely will again if there is a CIT. BU may get invited with a 15-15 record, which it seems is exactly where it is headed. I expect our last win of the season to be next wednesday and then lose our last two if we have to play ISU first round.

Oregon State was 13-17 (7-11, 8th in the Pac 10) when they were invited to the CBI last year. They went 4-1 in the CBI (they lost 1 of the best of 3 finals), and finished 18-18 and champions of the CBI.

I hope there's only the CBI - I enjoyed that tournament. Another tournament just lowers the competition even more.
If the Braves don't make the CBI, then, oh well.

And that is what makes that tournament a joke, and something not to be proud of winning. That said, as mentioned by the author of this thread, more bball is never a bad thing and it's a good bridge to White Sox baseball!

Also Cincinnati was 13-18 when we played them in the CBI 1st round two years ago.

They need to find some kind of financial viability to these at some point. If the NIT is dissolved, I actually think that'll happen. Otherwise, they may last a few years only.

I guess the point of the CBI is that it is a postseason tourney, not one that necessarily rewards good play. But winning the tourney is still a nice accomplishment in that you have to win five games out of a possible six to do it. Okay, so it's not a "gold" or even a "bronze medal", but it is still something nice to add to the trophy case.

That's why those teams you mentioned aside from the CUSA team gravitated towards the CIT tourney, since they did not need to pay as much as they would have for the CBI.

But I agree with the poster above who said that the NIT is not completely out of the question. But if we are going to need to win the next five for the NIT, why not the next six for the NCAA Tournament?

Oh, to answer the original question, beat Drexel and Wichita St. at home and we will finish no worse than 15-15 which will be enough for either the CBI and CIT.

I wish there was a B-ball bridge directly to Football season not called the NBA.
