ASU-bound Corey Hawkins breaks Mike Bibby's career scoring record
here is a little tidbit of almost useless news...
the guy whose record Corey broke....is Mike Bibby, but his father, Henry Bibby is one of very few players to win an NCAA title (UCLA), a CBA title (1982, 1989 as coach), and an NBA title (1973 Knicks).
He is one of ONLY FOUR people who have won an NCAA title and an NBA title in back to back seasons...the other 3 are Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, and Billy Thompson.
Even more obscure is that Henry Bibby's older brother Jim Bibby was a pitcher in the major leagues for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jim Bibby won a World Series ring with the Pirates in 1979 and also pitched a no-hitter - the first in Texas Rangers' history, 7/30/73, and missed a perfect game by one single pitch!
Oddly and coincidentally, Jim Bibby is in the news today as he just passed away at age 65 Tuesday night.

some of those facts are facts I saw on the back of an old CBA collector card of Bibby
...and the article that just appeared this morning about Henry's brother Jim passing has a few of those facts as well...the rest you just look up or since I follow Hersey and his kids - I knew a bit of that stuff already.......

T, what are you becoming a Maryland backer? They have a pretty good recruiting class coming in next year.

Corey is getting all the press because he is the all time leader.
