Fair enough I suppose. But several people on here knock other teams for their schedules.

For instance, they knock ISU's schedule. Even though ISU beat us twice.

I understand the point of a tougher schedule. I scheduled my own team for years and we always played bigger schools to make our team better.

I guess I just haven't seen many returns out of BU's

I will admit that I was one of the posters on here stating before the conference race that our tougher non-con schedule was going to help us. I can see both sides of this discussion.
IMO.......We have built a number of double digit leads in games and have shown we are capable of playing very well. Conversely we have also lost most of those games we had double digit leads in. I would think that a tougher schedule would give us the ability to play through tough periods in a game. We have not shown that to be the case. More times than not, when we have been faced with the adversity of letting a big lead slip away...we have lost.

I guess the question I have now is...is the Valley the type of league we have to schedule so tough for to get ready? You could make the argument that if we dont play such a rough and tough schedule....maybe, just maybe, we don't have the injuries. As stated, ISU did not have the toughest schedule, but they did sweep the season series with us and have a better overall record. Granted they are not goin to win the conference reg. season title, but they are also in much better shape of a better post season tourney than us.

Well said. I think you said what I was trying to get at very well. You want your team tested, but not killed. Maybe our subpar non-con records have carried over into hurting us in conference.

Yep, tough schedules had everything to do with us losing all those home games, losing games we should of won , coming out after the half, not ready to play/flat and blowing all those second half leads and not finishing games I thought thats why you did tough schedules, to get your selfs ready so that kind of things don't happen Some on here (inclueing me) want BU to be like Butler and Gonzaga Check out their schedules. Was our schedule really that tough Who are the ones we lost to Who are the ones we beet I think it has nothing to do with tough schedules but more with a team and its players ready to play good hard BB for each game My opinion

a really weak one virtually guaranteed the embarrassing exclusion from the NCAA for certain program(s).

I saw WCU play a few nights ago and they were VERY unimpressive. Not very big, not very quick....... Definately deserving to be in a lower mid-major conference like the SoCon. They will be lucky to even make the NIT now.

I think the only reason they were hot early in the season can be attributed to two things:

1) They were hitting the outside shot at a very high percentage, and
2) They returned 5 starters (now seniors) from the previous year and were simply ahead of the curve early in the year against better teams who were still trying to find their rhythm.

Our schedule was fine, we had 2 non conf. opponents that were very good in BYU and Ok.St; we should have won all the home games so we just have not played good enough or put 2 good halves together, this team can look so good at times and then look so bad and you just don"t know what to expect from them. I think they have issues as far as being out to late and partying to much.

Oh brother <deep sigh>. I've never seen so many posts containing rampant, baseless speculation as I have the past 24 hours. It makes for entertaining reading, but it really only muddies the waters.

Come on BradleyJD, ISU's schedule was just complete negligence and it hurt the whole conference regardless of record. That is what really matters above all else! Is the MVC a 2 team conference? Well with the overall scheduling I am going to have to say no, unless UNI does not win down in St Louis. The Valley does not have a chance or a decent argument at this time. With a better overall SOS then we can muster up so credibility. BU did their part for the overal SOS and when it is al said and done I'm a lot happier to have played our schedule and lose then to have ISU's schedule. There's not one part of my fandom for BU that would wish that we play a pansy schedule for a few more Ws. I loved John Chaney's philosophy when he coached at Temple,"Play anybody, anywhere, anytime!"

I'm with ya SFP. As a fan I would rather see BU or any other member of the league play top-tier mid-majors and lower-tier majors (and possibly lose) than play The Little Sisters of the Poor and run up a 15-1 record. (Are you listening ISU? )
