maybe because JL's teams has been mediocre for 8 years....hasn't this already been discussed

I really don't think that is the reason for the venom FWO.

          This is interesting to me..

Andrew had a miserable first half- good second half.. does that equal a good game? Some would argue that to call it a good game- you take the good withe bad and then evaluate the entire product and result....

However- when others use that same criteria to judge the last 8 years, they are criticized

          Perplexing...

I am a hater of KW's columns and the PJS. I read KW's column this morning at a coffee shop as I won't spend one dime on anything PJS! After reading today's column I have two words for KW.

              SHUT UP!
              Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Besides I was being sarcastic. People can get upset about a persons "ability" to do ONE job (writing) but are critical of others that express the same feelings about another job (coaching).

I have seen as much "hate" (their words not mine) for KW as I have for JL.

Explain the double standard to me......
it is a old political trick. if you dont like the message(and you really cant argue facts that the message is incorrect), attack the messenger.

I do not like personal attacks. If you don't like the job he does, that's fine.

I guess its ok to attack others but K.W. gets a free ride, you can"t have it both ways. ( by the way I read his articles and some are good and others I disagree with)

I suspect KW, like all newspaper columnists, is used to criticism and people who don't like what he writes. Didn't he just do an entire column about his emails about the blackout?
In fact, he gets a free column out of just posting the silliest emails and ripping on their writers.

I've got two things to say after reading your posts and KW's article.

1.) In response to the question on why people can hate on KW but not JL - you need to read the fine print in the rules for posting section of this site. It clearly states that you cannot post "- Negative or unconstructive criticism of Bradley, the coaches, or any personnel or staff at Bradley."

Saying the guy should be canned is certainly not constructive. KW is not a coach or on staff at BU. Thats why. You can hate on JL all you want - just not here. The quicker you fellas get that through your thick skulls the better. I'm sick of all these I hate JL, JL should be fired, JL is the reason we're going to be playing on Thursday night threads. Let it go.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE and quit cluttering things up. You make it annoying to surf on my iphone.

Whew - I feel better, sorry to hulk out on you guys.

                          And #2...

2.) Wessler praised the team, coach, and efforts, but I think that some praise should go to the crowd last night. I know its easy to get on your feet when the team is doing well...but maybe just maybe we should show the team some love more often. Perhaps they'll respond accordingly more frequently.

The volume at Carver yesterday got WAY up.

Good job to all those that got up and yelled/clapped/stomped their team to victory yesterday.

Yes he did but maybe he should have taken a poll about the Black uniforms because everyone that I have talked to thought they looked great and I am sure the team thought it was a neat thing to do,it appears that he just wanted to write something negative because BU lost to ISU and he chose the wrong thing as who cares what his opinion is on Bradleys uniforms, maybe the next time they decide to buy new ones they should check with him first just to get his approval.,(then maybe not)

read the rules, I didn't write them...
and I have said many times, the negatives are fine as long as we can also talk about where they are coming from...

I think we can look to Kirk Wessler's own words for at least some of the answer...and I believe there is an anti-BU bias that formed well outside of basketball or the professional arena....a few years ago when the university was buying up property, he wrote several times about how he took it personally because some of the land belonged to his family (and they were apparently well compensated and satisfactorily compensated and sold willingly), and that his family had attended and/or worked for Bradley University for a couple generations...and they felt they deserved either different or better treatment.
I recall the columns quite well, and I see his point, but it was all quite sentimental while BU was pursuing a clearly business agenda, did everything quite fairly and legally, and notified everyone and anyone they were required to notify.
Don't get me wrong...he is entitled to feel however he wants, but he can't talk of his bias then later speak as if unbiased!
On top of that he was upset that he was never given a direct phone call letting him know precisely what BU's long range plan was, when of course BU hadn't given anyone else such a phone call..

they had, however, posted the entire long range plan in the lobby of the athletic offices for everyone to see, nearly a full year earlier....so most of what seemed to upset Mr. W appeared pretty insignificant to me and maybe just a downright misunderstanding or mistake....
Beyond that I think the PJS writers feel the need to continue the long tradition of Dick Lien and Phil Theobald, who chose by design to be very anti-Bradley...and covered BU basketball kinda like Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein covered Watergate.

No, that is not what I said. I said questioning him on his job (articles) is fine. Personal attacks are not.

I question Jim Les about his job, not him on a personal level.

Jim is a great guy and a terrific person. That does not change my view of his coaching job.
