Well, then wasn't his column condemning this team and saying there was no chance they would bounce back or get better ("The best is not yet to come") a little premature?
No one saw anything.
No one knows anything.
Go Bradley!!
Go Jim Les!!

Had the chance to play golf with Kirk a couple times the past two years. We were playing by ourselfs and just hooked up. Nice guy! Enjoyed the time playing with him Talked golf, about his trip all over the SW last year and some BU BB For the record, I NEVER heard him say one bad thing about BU and coach Les
YES...where are all those Wessler haters. When he's negative (according to some) they are all over him. NOW he's positive and they are all gone. You won't see ONE post from them today.
PM me for a list and links of all the haters of Wessler. They are just trying to bring the PJ start down and turn it into a totally negative site...Flamers.
You will see mine Dog. I don't consider myself a "hater" but wait until they lose and he will change his tune. IMO, he is a Mike Nadel wannabe. Praise them when they win and kick them while they're down.

That's because you were his only audience that day.
I've read a lot from of haters of KW, particularly on this site. I don't think he does a bad job, nor do I often disagree with him.
If you think about the state of the team when "Better days are not ahead" was written, it was hard to find something positive to say. Along the same lines, it could be pretty easy to spin this win negatively: Enjoy the brief success, Bradley can't play this well again, which team shows up?, good win to save a bad coach.
How many sportswriters are loved by their hometown? I think that they write a lot that they don't totally believe to get people to read them or discuss a topic. That seems to be Skip Bayless' whole career on ESPN.
JL are not respunsible foor the string of injunrys....
K.W. has written a lot of good articles about BU , but when he attacks Bradley because of the black uniforms I thought it was just a personal attack against Les for doing something different, yes BU"s colors are listed red and white but we have used black as a 3rd trim color for years so it has been a part of the uniforms for a long time, everyone that I have spoken to including my daughter that saw the game on tv from St.Louis said the uniforms were really neat , just because we ended up losing the game should not have any effect on whether or not they wear them again in the future.
Simple question...WHY is it OK for some to be critical of KW but NOT of JL?
I offer it is OK, needed, expected and ALWAYS OK to be critical of BOTH.
I agree with the second sentence.
I realize that progress has been somewhat stagnant under JL. I have no problem wanting more. I have questioned the use of timeouts and the experience of the staff on these boards, but I also acknowledge that the staff knows more than me, and that there is a heck of a lot more involved in JL having success than KW. I don't give JL a pass, I just don't blame him every time a player misses a free throw.
KW puts it on paper and he's done. If people hate him, he is doing his job. JL has to get kids to do what he wants, against a coach and 5 other kids trying just as hard. If you don't see the difference in their jobs, you are blind. I'm sure Kirk would acknowledge it as well.
My biggest problem in the whole debate, on both sides, is that people are not being objective. They are taking their opinions on him being hired in the first place, and either loving him or hating him based on that, then trying to defend their position with whatever bits of data help their argument. To the haters, whatever he has accomplished is unimportant, and whatever he hasn't is crucial. To the lovers, it is the exact opposite. Yesterdays game to the people who support JL was proof positive he is great, to the haters UNI just played bad and we fell into a win. Both sides lack credibility because of their bias.
I'll be honest, no one likes mediocrity, but who at BU has been able to rise above it in the modern era, say Stowell and up? The times we were most successful, we had a jewel in the rough who surpassed expectations that everyone could count on (JJ, Hawk). Versace had them on his best teams, and some would say he ran a dirty program. If those guys hadn't become more than they were recruited as, you would be looking at 40 years of mediocrity. Maybe the problem goes higher than the coach. Are we going to blame all of the mediocrity of the past 40 years on bad coaches? I love when we do well, but there might be more needed than a change of coach to rise above the precedent we have set.
By the same token, JL has not been able to rise above, so maybe he needs to be a little more receptive to adapting to what needs to be done to be successful. Maybe a new staff would help him with that. Maybe not. Get some guys in here whom he trusts and can add to the program. From what I see, which isn't much, JL has to change for that to happen. If he refuses to add quality assistants or refuses to listen to them when he gets them, he is hurting his own program.

I am a 'Wessler Hater.' No need to PM Dogs. Do I think he's a bad guy? No. Do I think he has an anit-JL agenda? Most definitely.
What else could you possibly write after yesterdays game than that piece and still try to pretend your a respectable journalist? Anyone can see the positive after a game like that. Anytime however that we don't look perfect according to KW it's JL's fault...
I am most certainly a Wessler-hater, but it was a very positive article, especially when he gave credit to Bradley for UNI's poor shooting and turnovers. Check out a few of the haters' posts here and elsewhere and you won't find that.
I don't think KW has a problem being positive with Bradley, I think he has a problem being positive with the head coach. That has been discussed to death. Even non-BU fans around town ask me things like "what's up with that guy always ripping on Coach Les?" It's happened multiple times this year.
It's like always with KW, win a game it's a great game by the players, lose a game it's a bad game by Coach Les. It was a good, positive article about the players. Hopefully he'll get to write some more of them.
BNC, this is very good summation of my feelings and observations regarding KW. Well put.

That's what I see from the upper bowl.
Thanks for the response....other then calling me blind (I DO where glasses) I appreciate your views. You know you are now a JL hater though correct? You listed the same stuff many others have saidabout him.
JL does a job based on results.....those results, the quanifiable ones, show with undisputable fact, it has been a mediocre performance. KW simply writies opinion pieces with some facts thrown in. I am sure his facts are 99.99999% accurate. IF they were NOT he needs to be called out but I don't think he'd have a job if his facts were consistently inaccurate.
His opinions...even HE welcomes opposing views. I don't always agree with them but I'm sure he's glad I don't. Or at least he doesn't (and shouldn't) care.
The bottom line is, and I have yet to have this simple question answered, why is it OK to "hate" (again not MY phrase) on KW but NOT on JL?
They are BOTH open to criticism (what some call hate) as they BOTH perform "public" jobs.
And I have heard more name calling of KW then I have heard of JL on this board. Jim is scrutinized on how he does his job....KW is called a Les hater...a BU hater......a drive by journalist.
Again.. people can be critical of BOTH or NEITHER...I don't care. Just don't give me this double standard of its OK to hate on one (criticize) but not the other based on what side you are on.
You realize that he has an opinion just like all of us...he just is in the position to post his opinions in the paper. there have been plenty of anti-les comments on this board...so what is so shocking. he can write want he wants and when he wants just like we can make threads about coaching changes and threads about why BU sucks.
haha ok now all of you Wessler haters and bashers come on out and apologize for calling him all those mean names. Wait what's that? You say one article doesn't make a career? hmmmm....
sorry I couldn't resist
Well hate is a strong word! What I have always said is that KW for some reason continuously slams JL at every chance he has. I feel sorry for him, if anything, with all that built up venom he holds for the JL.
