why? with all the hard work that goes into coming back from an injury and having the other teams best defender guard you almost every game...

I just do not understand the need
Much agreed. As Warren does draw the other teams best defender most of the time, him sitting would only make it tougher on Sammy to get good looks. I think he's shown plenty of times this season he has the ability to turn a subpar night into a great game. Three games I can think of off hand are at Drake, at Evansville and tonight.

Warren was 4-12 from the field today...I would hardly classify that as a 'great game'.
He hit a few huge shots in the second half and was a big reason that we got the win today...but a 'great game'? I think that's a bit of a stretch.

Still those AW doubters out there. Only JL gets more criticism then AW. I do not understand. I'm betting those that bitch and moan the most are those that never even strap on basketball shoes and head to the court. Do they even know how hard it is to play at this level after not playing for a year? There are times he seems to disappear granted but to ride him hard when only he leads this team scoring? I'm feel embarrassed for you guys when I read your posts.

I also have feeling he will even be muched improved next year. I'm a huge AW fan and supporter.

          1st half = subpar
2nd half = 15 points which was high for the GAME out of anyone

I would say that's a great game when you score the most points in a game that you beat the #18 ranked team in the country.

Keep in mind he didn't even run up until the season began. I happen to run as a hobby. I had a stress fracture in my foot which resulted in taking months off for it to heal. When it was healed and I started running and hooping again, I was out of it for a long time. I couldn't get my wind and was having a tough time. I can only imagine trying to play the level of competition he is playing coming back how he did and being top 5 in league scoring. Kudos to you Drew! Keep up the good work and forget about the naysayers!

Here here baballer, SFP, MCD and others. You guys are fans who know the game! As SFP said (and I paraphrase to add my own emphasis) it is embarrassing that there are even those who call themselves "fans" when there sole purpose is to rip some college kid to make themselves feel better about their wittle self. First it was McCain, then Maniscalco, Singh, Roberts, Egolf....... Give me a friggin' break!!!

To constantly pick on Les is one thing..... "He's a MAN, he's 40!" (actually 46, I think) Time to get a life fellas!

I'm an AW fan, and think he is a good player, but a lot of what BUfan9 says it true. AW definitely goes through streches where he doesn't work when he's off the ball to get open, forces shots, and disappears for long stretches at a time. He also makes a great point, AW was 4 for 12 tonight, that's not a great game, he hit big shots, but its not a great game. Also, please stop with the 'I bet you didn't even play basketball' BS. Who cares? I did play BBall, but I'll tell you what, there were lots of players who were better than me that couldn't break down a team or player to save there life. Has anyone heard Charles Barkley give analysis? There are countless players who turn out to be terrible coaches, and there are coaches who were never (good) players.

bufan9 makes some good points, many watching AW would say he's soft. My family, who are all U of I fans but watch BU because of me all agree with that statement, I don't necessarily agree, but there is definitely enough cause for the statement. So disagree if you like, but stop throwing around the personal insults. I have no problem going and digging up all of those who said EM should start over SM or that JC wouldn't ever turn into anything...

The day we stop calling AW a "star player" and realize that he is just a good mid-major college player will be the day that we realize he is giving all that he is probably capable of. Good game by A-dub today.... and great crunch time play to propel BU to victory!

I agree, whats the big deal. Maybe we wouldn't have won today without AW but,he should have been ready for the second half because he was a no show the first. We know AW is able to perform like he did the second half today now just go out and do it AW. We missed you. Great win today now lets go to ISU blue a get a win.

While I think that AW had a good 2nd half......to say that BUfan9 is ripping AW...WOW have to say that some on here have a thin skin. Just because you score points does not mean that you are a great player. There is so much more that goes into a team sport than scoring! I give AW a lot of credit from battling back from his injury. But he does disappear for stretches of the game and as some have said, every player goes through this, no doubt. A poster pointing this out is not ripping on a player. Ripping a guy would be saying he fades or doesn't show up and he actually is there all the time! Even Dave made a point of saying to AW that he must have thought the game started at 2:05 instead of 1:05!!!! Guess Dave Snell was ripping on him!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

I agree in that it is not as easy to just go out and score 20 points every game, defenses key on certain players so since he is our leading scorer he gets a lot more attention, for the others that complain about C.Roberts not doing enough I would like to point out how he guards the other teams leading scorer most of the game which in turn makes his offense suffer but he always plays hard and goes to the boards pretty darn good for a 6-5 player, he pretty much took over the game late in the 2nd half.

Warren had showed all sorts of promise his sophomore year especially in the CBI. Having a year off and not being able to run definitely was a huge setback. I'm not saying Drew is Michael Jordan but does anyone remember when he returned wearing 45? He was nowhere close to the Jordan everyone new and loved before he retired. He looked really rusty but had some shining moments. Keep in mind he continually trained while retired from basketball because he was playing baseball. The next season however he had knocked the rust off and he lead the Bulls to another championship. Drew's games of 22, 11, 8, 17, and 14 were great in the CBI especially for a rising sophomore. HE DIDN'T RUN FOR OVER A YEAR PEOPLE!
He's rusty at times like MJ was when he returned from his hiatus, but mark my words, Drew will be POY in Valley next season!

ER3 I need nothing from anyone on this board, especially from the 1/2 glass empty crowd! So please if you feel that my comment was directed at you then there must be some truth and frankly I was not directing my comment at anyone in specific.

I had mentioned that Aw had a tough stretch of games before the Evansville game...look the the stats before that game and his shooting percentage wasn't good and too many turnovers. He's always rebounded well though.
He made some big shots today in the second half and they came in a bunch it seemed....as long as we win it doesn't matter.
