It certainly was a nice surprise to see BU come out and start the second half strong. It didn't look like they had much energy except for Roberts in the first half. The crowd fed off that surge.

Coach Les deserves all the credit in the world for a very well coached game today, much like he did against Illinois. He also deserves much of the criticism he has recieved this year from many on this board because there is no way a team with the talent we have should be sitting at 13-12 (8-7) after a convincing win over a second top 25 team (Illinois was 22 when we beat them).

With that said, I hope he is able to lead the same year-end charge we've seen in years past and hopefully make a run in STL. Post-season success is all that matters and we still have a chance to experience some.

This is why I have a problem with the ones that say he cannot coach, you don"t look great like we have in beating Illinois and UNI if you are not doing something right, I agree that there are changes that need to be made in the use of timeouts, substitution patterns, asst. coaches, and recruiting but these are fixable things and hopefully these things are being worked on .

I suggest the real problem some posters had/have with JL is the shortage of BU wins in the MVC the past three seasons....If BU isn't winning, the coach will take heat regardless if it is a perception of coaching ability, or, a perception coaches can't get enough talent to win consistently.

I don't think anyone can argue JL resurrected the program, emotionally and financially, when he came on board.

The end of this season, and, BU's accomplishments next season, will pretty much answer the question: Is JL the guy to take BU from here to the next level?

Got to give JL credit when its due. And he gets a lot of credit for the UNI win even though it kills me the way he doesn't play AT.

For better or worse, this year's team is much better off when they do not have a lead at half-time. DV commented in an earlier game this year when BU went into the locker room with a 10+ point lead. DV said he preferred having a 3 point lead.

This team can not close out is better coming from behind in the second half. That's not a coaching thing, its a player thing.

Not sure what JL said, but whatever it was it worked. Great strategy on Egleseder in the 2nd half, and superb effort overall. That's what games on the home court are supposed to be like!

Absolutely. I haven't seen a flash of TB potential quite like the second half of Saturday's game. Needless to say, putting on a run like that against the seemingly untouchable league leaders will make you jump a little higher and run a little faster, but hopefully he and the rest of the players that stepped up enjoyed that feeling enough to keep it up!!

I just wanted to give Taylor credit where credit is due-
Despite this being Taylor's first season of playing regularly, Taylor is leading Bradley in rebounding with 6.8 rpg overall, and 7.4 rpg in MVC games. For comparison sake, our leading rebounder last year Theron Wilson averaged 7.3 rpg, and he didn't have much help. Bradley also has Will Egolf (4.9 overall, 5.2 in MVC) and Andrew Warren (4.7 overall, 5.0 in MVC) this year among the top 15 rebounders in the league.
The leading rebounder in 2007-08 was Matt Salley at 6.9 rpg, and in 2006-07 Zach Andrews lead BU with 7.0 rpg.

And consider that TB routinely has to guard players who are either bigger than he is, or he has to defend big guards and chase them around the perimeter and around screens, and he's done a great job of it.

In all games, Taylor's 6.8 rpg overall ranks 5th in the MVC, ahead of some pretty good rebounders like Kenny Lawson, Adam Koch, Kyle Weems, Gabe Blair, and others.
His 7.4 rpg MVC games-only average ranks 3rd, and puts him ahead of some of the best rebounders in the league like Eglseder, Lawson, Haarsma, Weems, and others.

In addition, Taylor is 6th in the league in scoring with a 13.7 ppg average, and his conference-only average is equal to preseason POY Osiris Eldridge.
Taylor is the only player in the MVC to rank in the top 10 players in both scoring and rebounding.
That's a pretty good year for a sophomore who didn't play much his freshman season, and who wasn't recruited highly.

Sorry, let me amend that- Taylor is the only player among the top 8 players in both scoring and rebounding.

But that reminds me of one other point- almost everyone I have talked to concedes Kenny Lawson is one of the best 2 or 3 inside players in the MVC. I believe he will be a 1st team All-MVC selection this year. But Taylor ranks ahead of Lawson in both scoring and rebounding.

TB also ranks among the league leaders in Field Goal percentage (9th- 47.8%), Free Throw percentage (8th- 83%, 85.3% in MVC games), Steals (12th- 1.0 spg), and minutes played (10th- 30.6 mpg).
