if we finish 9-9, scenarios where we could still be the 6 or even 7 seed? I'm pretty good in math but my brain is too tired to compile right now. With 4 games left, I'm hoping someone was bored enough to play out all combos.

Well the good news is even if Drake and Missouri State both win tonight, we'd be tied with them for 5th.
The first tie-breaker is wins against teams with similar record, so we would be the 5 seed having won 3 of 4 against DU and MSU.
As for going 9-9, it's hard to say depending on who is there with us.

I would look into it, but I feel wiped out after the loss last night.
If BU won last night, I'd be interested in the 3rd place tie-breaker, so I'm not really excited about if we'd win the 6th place tie-breaker - not just yet.
ChiTown Fanatic - did the BU game finally come on after the 1st 2 minutes of the 1st half last night? (supposing you're in Chicago) I was getting irritated watching the promo, waiting for the game.

Unless there are a lot of upsets the rest of the way...9-9 will finish top 5 this season. An 8-10 team is likely to take 6th...so we need all the tiebreakers we can get against other likely 8-10 teams.

Yeah, I am having a hard time seeing anything better than 8-10. And this is from a guy who had us winning out just a few short days ago. Who knows, saying 8-10 might be a silly as saying we'll win out. If we stay consistent (relatively speaking), we'll go .500 and end up 9-9.Onward and Upward!

Let's break it down...
SIU 5-8...at MSU, DU, WSU, home vs. UE, CU.
Likely wins the home games and loses the road games...7-11.
InSU 6-8...at ISU, home vs. DU, BU, MSU.
Likely wins against DU, BU and losses to ISU, MSU...8-10.
DU 6-7...at InSU, MSU...home vs. UNI, SIU, UE
Likely wins against SIU, UE and losses to UNI, InSU, and MSU...8-10.
MSU 6-7...at WSU, ISU, InSU, home vs. SIU, DU.
Likely wins against SIU, DU, InSU and losses to WSU and ISU...9-9.
BU 7-7...at InSU, CU, home vs. UNI, WSU.
Likely win vs. WSU and losses to UNI, InSU, and CU...8-10
ISU 8-6...at CU, UNI, home vs. MSU, InSU
Likely wins the home games and loses the road games...10-8.
CU 8-6...at UNI, SIU, home vs. ISU, BU
Likely wins the home games and loses the road games...10-8.
This results in BU, DU, and InSU all tying for 6th at 8-10. InSU would get the 6, BU the 7, and DU the 8 the way it stands now as both InSU and BU would have swept DU. InSU would beat BU on tiebreaker points due to wins over CU and ISU.
So the key game for us is the game at InSU. Let's say we beat them and lose to WSU and end up with the same 8-10 record. And let's say that InSU beats MSU then to also end up at 8-10, with MSU also 8-10. Then you end up with a 4-way tie for 5th at 8-10, and BU would take the 5 in that scenario. Even if InSU loses to MSU, BU takes the 6 over DU. If SIU wins tonight, they could join the 8-10 fun, but as long as we win at InSU, we are golden in all tiebreakers. Win that one road game, and lose the other 3, and we still almost certainly avoid Thursday. Lose at InSU, and we may need to win 2 of the other 3.

Hey - it's still not as bad as having to sit through the last part of a Pac-10 game on the Valley Network before we see the game we want to watch.
