  • New Line UP?

I sick of starting the same 5 it is time for a new starting line up.

I'm sick of seeing Warren play half the game and still able to keep his starting job.

SM, DSE, JE, TB, WE. and no SS at all AT can at least give us something on D unlike SS. Not saying I would keep this line up I just think a few players need a wake up call.

I've been saying this for a while after losses, we need to shake it up. I remember last year when we shook the lineup up, players responded and played harder to earn their spots. Maybe for a couple games just make them realize they have to earn it. Maybe it will put less pressure h on some players coming off the bench as well, a lot like it seemed to work for Ben Gordon.

I want to see AT and WE out there together. SM, DSE, TB, WE, AT with JE getting more minutes as well. Get some guys some experience, and play with some size for a change. I know our rebounding stats aren't bad in the league, but when it comes down to crunch time and the big guys go harder for those big rebounds and put backs we don't have the size to stop it. In this lineup we still have a defensive stopper in DSE, we still have 4 guys that we know are capable of scoring in the lineup, and who knows what AT can provide, but at least we will try playing bigger. Plus we have an energy guy off the bench with JE. Then AW can come in later and be our shooter off the bench (something I believe is lacking on this team without DD), with CR spelling some guys as well. SS still won't have to play a ton of backup minutes because CR can spell the forwards and AT one at a time, leaving at least AT or WE in at all times to play center.

I don't think a lineup change will change the outcome of games. I think we start the best 5 we have, and play them the most minutes. Arguments can be made on philosophy and use of bench players, but I am not sure that results in many more wins. Maybe it does, but I am not sure. Certainly at this point those types of changes aren't going to make much of a difference.

They might be the best players sarting but they don't play hard for the whole game.

I think the best 5 start now too, but it is just to make players step it up to earn their spots, it worked last year. Maybe it will increase focus, and decrease pressure on some.

Yes, I believe the want for change is more philosophical and about use of the bench than results or who the most talented 5 are.

I think they play hard, they're just gassed by the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half.

Well then a change might arrange us to have more depth and get more rest, I think my lineup does that as I explained. Not that I'm some genius at throwing together a lineup by any means, just throwing out my opinion on what we could do.

I thinkt that the best 5 are starting right now. At this point though I wouldn't mind seeing how some other guys might help us out.

Please everyone if you pay attention to Jim Les he rarely if ever will make a change and he certainly is not going to play to big men together. It took complete desparation in 06 to put JJ on the court. Off the top of my head that is about the only change he ever really made and stuck with while the BU head coach.

You will see Maniscalco, Warren, Brown, Roberts and Egolf until the final buzzer. With Singh, DSE and Eastman off of the bench. He only played Thompson because of fouls at Evansville. If Singh or Egolf didnt get 2 quick fouls Thompson would have continued to collect dust until late in the second half of that game. Thompson played well and hard at Evansville and that effort translated into exactly as many minutes on the court as all of us received last night.

He played Milos early in the season, was the only one virtually to show up at Iowa State and his reward is a great seat for the entire Conference season.

JL will keep doing what he does and getting same old same old results. I have a feeling Mr Les might be quite hardheaded.

I want to know why so many people think that AT can bang with the bigs in the valley?

I think lineup changes are great to discuss when you have depth and multiple quality options on your bench...We have neither of those luxuries.

I suppose a decent case could be made to start DSE over someone (Roberts, perhaps) at this point...but I don't know that this necessarily makes us any better overall...As BB said, the best guys are going to play the most minutes...and I think we are clearly no more than 6 deep with guys that could even be anywhere near the conversation of who makes up "our best 5"...(It's pretty clearly SM, TB, AW, WE, DSE, CR and then a huge, huge drop off in quality down to the rest of the squad...SS, JE, AT, EM, MK, etc.). I just don't see how you could start anyone from that second grouping of 5 players unless you simply wanted to single someone out and make a statement to someone that was not putting forth the effort...
I don't think lack of effort is the problem here...so I guess I don't see what good a lineup change is actually going to do here.
