Post Season Tournaments

Regarding post season tournaments, I am 100% against playing in another unimportant "Ho-Hum"tournament that is comprised of mediocre teams, with no national coverage, and whose primary purpose is to raise money for the tournament organizers and participating schools, and to inflate the W-L record after a disappointing season.

While the players would want to continue playing, the goal should always be to reach the NCAA or NIT and if we don"t have a good enough season to do this, the season should be OVER! Players, coaches, etc. should understand this objective clearly at the beginning of the year. A mediocre season should not be rewarded with a mediocre post season tournement just to raise money and create an inflated WL record.

I agree 100% in not participating in the CBI or CIT.

Playing time for guys like MK, AT, Eastman, as well as more minutes for DSE could be a very valuable for their development

We may not have to worry about it.

With only WSU and UNI figuring to be NIT-and-above material, and if the CBI and CIT only take one Valley team (not unreasonable), we aren't really close to having the 4th best resume. In fact, we're behind IlSU, Creighton, MSU, and maybe InSU, putting us 7th.

I am not worried about it at this time, either. However, if they were invited, and if the team and BU administration wanted to participate in such a postseason tournament, I would have no problem with it. I would be one of the thousands of BU fans who would attend.

If the kids want to play and it wouldn't be a significant financial loser, then I say play. If they'd rather go on spring break, I can't say that I would blame them either.

i would prefer to play in ncaa or nit tourneys but if we are not good enough why not the other options. hey it is opportunity to give are player smore experience and boost win totals.

I'm for as much basketball as possible and will likely drive down for whatever game we receive. I enjoy seeing schools we'd otherwise never see and I enjoy being at the games...I just won't use our results in those tourneys to sugarcoat what can only be classified as a disappointing season if we're in them(i.e celebrating a 21-17 season as some others do)

I could see the coaches and staff wanting to have a relationship with one of these, so that when the NCAA doesn't come calling in the future, we are seen as more of a lock for them. Kind of like we were with the NIT before the NCAA took control!

If my opinion is what you are asking-- no. I would have no problem if they declined. But I love college basketball. Even last night's game, though a tough loss, was a great college basketball game. Fans can appreciate these games, and find enjoyment in watching the competetion.
If Bradley chose to play additional games, I'd likely buy tickets and watch them.

If the players want to play in a non-NCAA/NIT tournament, then let them. Some portion of the fan base will be upset whether they do or don't play provided an invitation is made. If the players want to play, then I would support them.

That's a good point. Maybe we can establish a relationship with these "new" NIT's in the same way we had with the old NIT. That way any time we don't make that new 80 to 96 NCAA Tournament, we have a fall back option.

As far as this year is concerned though, I don't mind if we play in one of these again, but I won't be upset if they decline it either. Getting extra experience for our team is important, but it has to translate to a better season next year. And that would be at least a top 3 finish but well above .500 as well. Preferably though, an NCAA Tournament bid would be ideal!

If it helps us recruit a real 5 I say yes, otherwise right now I really would not care. On the other hand though regardless of what happens I follow this team thick or thin and am always hoping for the best. As Bradleybraves said,"If the kids want to play and it wouldn't be a significant financial loser, then I say play. If they'd rather go on spring break, I can't say that I would blame them either."
