Except the problem was from 9-3 min left in the 2nd half where we made bad decisions, forced ourselves into poor turnovers and bad shots, and in sequence, blew the big lead (AGAIN)....this had absolutely nothing to do with how the game was called.
This team has zero chance of going deep in St. Louis AND most are hoping that the earlier this season ends, the better...Who really is that interested in wasting more money on a CBI home game?!
Yes we do, fortunately the games are played at a neutral site.
I just wonder how ISU is always ending up with these quality big guys inside and we are not. I know we went after some of them, but still, what's making them choose ISU over BU? Dilligard, Slack, Sampay, Odiakosa, Lewis, Carmichael...all of them are better than just about every interior recruit we've had in the last 3-4 years. Sure, we've had some comparable ones - ZA and Salley - but that's about it. Egolf can probably be added to that list too, but it's still grossly in favor of the school down the road. What a world of difference having just two of the guys mentioned above may have made with last year's team and this year's team. Sure we can play the 'if' game all day, but I think it's painfully obvious that the types of players mentioned above have been what's been sorely lacking from the program since 2006.
If I were a big guy and I watched BU play and say how the 5 doesn't get more than 3 touches on the post. Why would I want to come play here and do nothing but set screens for the 4 guards?
"How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano
Tired old arguments. "If you think you can do better why don't you apply?" is just one of them. Please. No one here has said they can do better and no one here is the coach. Does that automatically qualify everyone here to not have an opinion that they think someone else COULD be better? Who on this board has said they could do better than les? Way to side step the actual topic and debate ONCE AGAIN. Ridiculous excuses for everything that is Bradley. Stop with the free passes already. Accountability is progress.
To repeat myself- neither I nor anyone else here has ever said they are OK with losing nor does anyone support mediocrity. Can we finally drop this insult frequently thrown around here, that some of us support losing or mediocrity? (And btw, the last 4 seasons were winning seasons, not losing or .500 seasons)
Some fans simply believe the option of just changing coaches may not always be the best way to turn things around. Though it sometimes can work, please note that the bottom 5 teams in the MVC, and the 5 teams below Bradley, are all teams that have recently changed coaches hoping to sustain success or improve themselves.

Finishes like those only work in the ACC, Big East, or Big Ten.
neither BU nor ISU is gonna get an at large NCAA bid...both are shooting for one of two things...
either win the tourney or hope for some bid to some lower tourney.. last night's game doesn't really change as much as some would want you to think...
Is this a joke?
Losing last night changes a whole lot. To win the MVC tourney, you need to put yourself in a position to do it (i.e. not play on Thursday). A win last night would have brought us to within a game of second place; instead, we are going to really have to fight to stay out of Thursday.
we have been waiting for weeks for just ONE example of who anyone would hire to replace our current coach..but nobody has a single example..
and the only programs anyone has pointed to as supposed examples of what we ought to be doing- Drake, MSU, ISU, SIU, CU etc...are all stuck in the middle of the pack, doing little or no better than BU, with fan bases who are all grumbling just as loudly as an element of the BU fan base...
so convince me if we did what they've done we'd hear even 1% less whining than we hear now? I don't see it.
I have shown time and time again the numerous threads on the message boards of all those other schools calling to fire the coaches they now have and most of them are the very examples (albeit weak) that we have heard!
I guess you can try to change horses in the middle of the stream, but...
if you don't have another horse, don't know where to get one, don't even know where to go or who to ask to find out where to get one, and wouldn't have the resources nor $$ to get one that's any better than the one you already have...then personally I wouldn't want to change horses, and think anyone who does is gonna sink...kinda like lemmings jumping off the cliff with no plan whatsoever

we happened to see a real anomaly last night...very few fouls called...
after numerous games of having the refs who call the MOST fouls in MVC history, we had a crew that decided to swallow the whistle last night (could it be that was because Doug Elgin was in the crowd?)..and it hurt BU.
we got hammered and pushed around...I am not blaming the refs just stating the obvious...their calls were even but a team without a big, bulky, physical post presence is gonna get into a disadvantage in this style of game.
The style they allowed was more favorable to ISU than it was to BU...
Dinma played physical all night, has a history of fouling and getting in foul trouble (69 fouls on the seaosn and 3 foul-outs, and he had 4 Sat. vs. Drake), yet was whistled a grand total of ZERO times last night..
anyone who thinks that factor doesn't have an influence on the outcome of a close game is not being honest..
Tornado I enjoy most of your posts, but this one is really kind of funny. Numbers show it to be true. Not many fouls were called, but if it had a bearing it was that we NEED SOME BIG BODIES to play with the elite in this league. How many times have we seen on this board, people complaining about all the whistles. Now you give us one complaint about not enough whistles. Which way should it be ? Maybe it depends more on whether we win or lose. The OFFICIALS had NO bearing on who won last night. They did NOT give up 17 offensive rebounds or miss any free throws for us. Overall I thought last nights game was fun to watch until we got stuck on 54 points. That also seems to happen more often then not. We don't need to place blame where it isn't, we just need to accept what it is.

What are you talking about? I posted a list of about 10 names a few weeks ago of people who fit the mold of someone BU could and should go after should the position ever be open again.
You must have a really low opinion of BU, the athletic department, our new facilities, our fan support, and our tradition if you don't think anyone would want to come here. As someone who donates a remarkable and commendable amount of time, energy, and personal resources to the university and program, I'd expect quite the opposite opinion.
wily -- that's unfair....that's not at all what I did, I am NOT complaining...just citing that the sudden switching from refs that call a lot to refs who don't is hard to adjust and be prepared for and it favored ISU better than it favored us..
personally I'd love if it was like this all the time, and if it was, then when we had POB we'd have been undefeated and gone to the Final Four..
Anyway...a solid banger/center like Dinma took ISU 5 years of scholarship commitment and doesn't happen often in the MVC...we can want a center like that but it's not like you can get one off ebay...
and BB - I am sorry I never saw such a post..please relink if you would, please...
Those are the records and RPI for James Jones and the Yale Bulldogs since he was one of the coaching candidates for the BU job back in 2002. Many people wanted him as BU's coach, and some still voiced that Bradley should have tried harder to hire him even a couple years into Jim Les' regime.
I could do the same thing for almost all the other coaching candidates, as well as some of the many coaches that people here have said Bradley should hire. People here claimed Bradley should have gotted a bright innovative, successful coach like Jim Whitesell at Loyola, but his numbers are even worse in some ways. I don't have the time to pull out and post records for all the people who were touted here by some posters as far better coaching candidates for BU than Jim Les, but most aren't pretty.
My point again, is that nobody supports losing and nobody supports mediocrity. If it makes other posters here feel somehow morally superior to keep stating or impying that Bradley fans do, then OK.
But change for the sake of change does not always succeed.

Who is "we"? Does more than 1 person post under the name "Tornado"?
Why does anyone need to create a list of possible coaches now? Jim Les is still the coach. Until the university makes the call it is irrelevant.
I can think of many coaches I would rather have here....
Roy Williams
Rick Barnes
Bill Self
Tom Crean
etc etc
or do you mean people who BU could actually get?
Start looking at top-level programs and find a good, young, assistant coach who has been learning under a quality coach. Maybe someone who is known as a hard worker, a good recruiter, and a good person as well.
